Position Summary
Dieselmatic is seeking a talented and experienced Design Manager to join our dynamic team. As a Design Manager, you will play a crucial role in leading and managing a team of web developers, fostering a culture of innovation, and driving design excellence. Your primary focus will be on developing design capability, improving and iterating on Dieselmatic's webflow templates, and leading projects to help grow Dieselmatic’s offering and service. Responsibilities
Lead and Manage the Design Team:
- Facilitate training sessions to promote design best practices and share new tools and techniques.
- Foster professional growth and development within the team, identifying training opportunities and providing constructive feedback.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to a team of 3 web developers and one junior web developer.
- Promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment that values diversity and encourages the sharing of ideas and perspectives.
Team Development and Tools Improvement:
- Conduct regular reviews and analysis of existing templates, identifying areas for enhancement and implementing improvements accordingly.
- Collaborate with the team to improve and iterate on Dieselmatic's templates, ensuring they are up-to-date, user-friendly, and aligned with industry standards and best practices.
- Drive the development of design capability within the team, enabling them to deliver high-quality and visually appealing designs.
Project Leadership:
- Take the lead in managing team projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and to the highest quality standards.
- Oversee project timelines, resource allocation, and deliverable milestones, making necessary adjustments to ensure project success.
- Facilitate effective communication and coordination within the web development team and cross-functional teams involved in projects.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders, including marketing professionals and developers, to understand project requirements and goals.
Operational
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the design team.
- Contribute to the team’s overall website creation goal, ensuring that we are meeting team website creation goals. Creating high performing websites which delight partners and set a high bar for technically capable websites.
Recruitment
- Lead on the recruitment process for web-development roles, conducting interviews and assessing candidates' design skills and fit with the team.
- Contribute to the creation of recruitment materials and design-related job descriptions.
- Support onboarding and training of new team members, ensuring they are familiar with team processes and tools.
Experience Requirements for This Role
Mandatory:
- Proficiency in Webflow and a solid understanding of web development technologies.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Visual Communications, or a related field.
- Proficiency in design software and tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma).
- Strong portfolio showcasing a range of web design and development projects.
Preferred:
- Strong project management abilities, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Proven experience as a Design Manager or in a similar leadership role, preferably in a web design or development environment.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the aptitude to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire diverse teams.
This is a remote position, you must reside in Canada to be considered. While we appreciate all interest, only those qualified will be contacted for an interview.
