Qualities we expect from an Interior Stylist:

Ste Marie Studio is seeking to fill the role of Interior Stylist with an individual who is inspired and motivated to produce well-executed design, and who understands that they will reach a level where they can execute this design through creativity, discipline, technical strengths, communication and motivation. This individual should have a strong yearning to learn about their field through the process of inquiry and research, and a potential to translate that learning through to project execution.

•3-5 years experience in a Styling, Industrial Design or Interior Design Role (Hospitality, Retail and Multi-Family Experience considered an asset)

•Strong creative capabilities, technical detailing, project management and production skills

•Personable, outgoing and communicative nature in order to successfully work within internal and external teams

•Have excellent English language written and spoken communication skills

•Resourceful, proactive and a lateral thinker

•Highly organized and disciplined, in order to create accurate spec sheets, presentations and drawings and to manage project administration throughout the project phases

•Attention to detail and exceptional coordination skills

•Ability to stay on task and effectively manage time in order to work independently on projects as assigned

•Ability to collaborate within a team setting, providing direction to fellow team members

•Ability to translate design concepts into furnishing, art and fixture direction

•Must be able to read, understand and translate technical drawings

•Be able to multi-task and prioritize and take ownership of your own work and assignments

•Passionate about design and motivated to execute compelling and thoughtful projects

•Ability to evaluate and openly communicate workload and support needs within the Studio setting

•Valid BC driver's license and access to a vehicle

Responsibilities:

•Work closely with Interior Design Project Leads in translating project creative design direction into high-quality styling concepts and strategies customized to the project narrative

•Autonomously drive creative direction and oversight to ensure all aspects of styling and art direction are tied back to the project interior design concept and represent the highest quality, distilling Ste Marie’s brand standards into a clear, comprehensive narrative that synchronizes with the interior environment and comes to life with every detail

•Interpret and understand project briefs and conceptual design to create or oversee the creation of thoughtful, comprehensive styling accessories and art selections

•Select and source accessories, floral and styling items based on the established design and FF&E creative direction

•Correspond with and enroll clients if required, in order to define styling and art direction, ensuring alignment prior to the next steps

•Define project strategies for vendor selection and methods of sourcing that best suit project needs

•Coordinate with other members of the team to support styling installations, when required

•Identify strategies for styling and art direction to be realized on-site, sourcing and purchasing items as required to support the final design direction. Follow through with design direction on-site and participate in final client handovers and walk-throughs
