Overview

As the Production Supervisor, your prime objective will be to develop and implement processes to improve Plant efficiencies and minimize costs for our Precast division. Encouraging the ongoing development of our safety and preventative maintenance culture, you will build and maintain key relations with customers, employees, and industry authorities.

Responsibilities

As the Production Supervisor, you will:

• Work with the Quality Control team to ensure products are manufactured above industry standards
• Project Management of plant improvement and capital projects.
• Review and approve payroll, ensuring costing allocations are accurate and coaching where necessary.
• Develop and implement process improvements that increase operational efficiency.
• Supervise daily operations with a safety first approach.
• Ensure that progressive discipline is uniformly administered.
• Conduct monthly lead hand meetings and coach lead hands on how to run daily meetings.
• Encourage and promote an open working relationship with all plant employees.
• Continuous improvement to production costs, close the loop on Quality issues with strong plans to prevent future issues.
• Lead the Plant Supervisors, Production Foreman, Maintenance Foreman, charge hands and lead hands.
• Evaluation and maintenance of concrete mix design for wet and dry cast products
• Assist in the development, cost economic analysis, writing and submittal of CER’s
• Attend and supervise daily production meetings.
• Daily monitoring and corrective actions to ensure KPI targets are met.
• Conduct weekly work group production meetings.
• Ensure the operation meets the highest practical housekeeping standard.
• Maintain and develop key relationships and provide technical assistance to customers, industry officials, and City inspectors.
• Coordinate ordering to maintain appropriate raw material levels.
• Create and manage production and labour schedules.
• Coordinate with the Purchasing Coordinator, Sales Manager, Engineering, Sales and PMs.

Relationships With Others Jobs

• Coordinating with Plant Supervisors, Production and Maintenance Foreman, Quality Control Technician, Purchasing Coordinator, Sales Manager, Engineering and Sales Technologist, Design and Marketing Engineer.
• Reporting to the Precast Superintendent
• Coordinating with Union Representatives

Specific Accountabilities

• Ensure the timely production of both Pipe and Precast products , which must also meet product specifications
• Train, motivate and supervise plant supervisors and hourly employees
• Safety Performance objective is “Zero”

Qualifications

Education & Work Experience:

• Manufacturing or Precast experience considered an asset.
• Proven ability to manage and supervise a staff of 40+ employees
• Technical diploma or ten (10) years related experience in an Operations capacity

Knowledge & Skills

• Detail-oriented, thorough and accurate
• Demonstrate strong analytical skills, research, problem solving and decision making
• Experience with and understanding of the construction industry
• Multi-task, must be flexible and balance shifting priorities to meet deadlines
• Ability to make decisions in a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete data and under tight deadlines and pressure
• Excellent leadership skills - must be able to motivate others and provide complete, direct and actionable feedback
• Must be a team player with excellent organizational skills
• Strong leadership skills and takes ownership of his/her areas.
• Dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal and external customers
