Job Description
Arch Consulting is in partnership with a Canada-based licensed producer and distributor of cannabis products for both the medical and adult-use markets in Aylmer, ON. They are currently looking for a Production Supervisor who can work Mon - Thurs 3:30pm to 1:30am & Friday (optional) 12:30pm to 6:30pm.
Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Production, the Supervisor, Production will be responsible for managing and coaching a production team to support the overall daily operations of production/packaging. The role will be instrumental in assisting with planning, scheduling and determining labour requirements, equipment and materials to meet production targets. A successful candidate will be efficient, detail oriented, and able to manage their time effectively with an on-the-floor mentality.
Responsibilities
  • Manage safe work conditions and practices within the production area. Enforce company Safety, Health, and Environmental policies.
  • Oversee sanitizing, organizing, and preparing all processing areas.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Tracks employee work performance and attendance, monitoring adherence to production plan, start-times, dismissal times, and additional daily activities.
  • Regular communication with Manager, Production or designate on updated status of packaging & labeling activities and any risks to fill rate for provincial or customer orders
  • Communicate effectively with other department managers, supervisors, and employees to ensure timely resolution of problems to achieve department and company objectives.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and calibrated as necessary.
  • Create, measure, and report KPIs to employees and Managers.
  • Ensure all Team Members are trained sufficiently in operating machines and/or tasks.
  • Lead Daily/Weekly Operational Reviews, ensuring alignment between quality goals and performance standards.
  • Uses data to evaluate and improve processes and procedures.
  • Maintain accountability and inventory of all raw materials, finished products, and by-products, participating in internal audits as directed.
  • Conducts reviews of non-conforming finished products, ensures quality control is maintained, and corrective actions are developed.
  • Work closely with the Senior Production Technicians and other subject matter experts to drive continuous improvement.
  • Help draft and update procedures relating to regulatory, training, and quality compliance for processing to ensure repeatable performance and high-quality end products.
  • Maintain and promote a positive work environment through collaborative discussions, team communications rigorous root cause analysis, and transparent decision making.
  • Ensure compliance with security measures, standard operating procedures (SOP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and government regulations for all tasks/equipment related to processing and packaging.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Sense of urgency and responsibility to meet delivery schedules.
  • Exceptional People Management skills and ability to lead a team of up to 50 employees.
  • Ability to work long (off hours) and weekends if required.
  • Ability to manage and balance multiple priorities and execute against committed scope and schedule across multiple production lines.
  • Strong QA/QC experience/knowledge.
  • Experience/knowledge of OHSA and regulations.
  • Experience in start-up industry/facility an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP regulations.
  • Excellent and demonstrated people management skills.
  • Strong understanding and demonstrated execution of planning, measuring, and analysis of KPIs.
  • Experienced with/ focused on Continuous Improvement
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role in fast-paced food, cannabis, and similar industry (consumer packaged goods preferred)
  • Must have proficiency using MS Office Suite & ERP
