We are currently seeking a Manager, Digital PMO to lead a diverse team of 10-15 highly skilled and collaborative team members working on Digital initiatives. You are an experienced people manager with a background as an agile practitioner with demonstrated experience working in the capacity of a Scrum Master. You have experience in working with multiple teams, sponsors, and stakeholders. Part of your mandate will be to help increase agile maturity for the team and be a catalyst for change.
What you will do:
  • Manage a digital team with diverse roles including Scrum Masters, Business Systems Analysts and Product Owners as well as Software Engineer co-op students.
  • Define and evolve capability-building roadmap for team members.
  • Support HR in seeking and obtaining talent.
  • Resolve organizational issues related to team member workload, including planning and accounting for absences.
  • Manage structure and people:
  • Work effectively with 3rd party vendors and outsourcers (talent supply management).
  • Serve as a guide for others.
  • Drive consistency of the knowledge and skills, sharing best practices and common challenges within the team and beyond.
  • Support the implementation of Agile frameworks, principles, and practices across the team to set the tone for a transparent, adaptive, and high-performing team culture.
  • Develop and manage organizational expertise within the Software Engineering discipline:
  • Onboard new team members and ensure they are aware of resources and standards available.
  • Lead the team’s knowledge sharing, coaching, training, and mentoring.
  • Ensure compliance with Sun Life policies and procedures for project delivery and implementation (playbooks).
  • Set performance plans and goals and evaluate team member performance.
  • Manage progression and professional development of team members to develop both breadth and depth of skills:
  • Promote a learning environment to develop team member skills that align with industry developments and organization goals.
What You Will Need To Succeed
  • Excellent understanding of Agile methodologies with hands on experience with Scrum, Kanban and/or SAFe frameworks.
  • 5+ years experience as a Scrum Master within a large, complex organization.
  • Knowledgeable on integrating complex and unique program/projects with numerous technologies and platforms across business units.
  • Conflict and issue resolution and escalation experience.
  • 5+ years of experience providing direct management of individual contributors.
  • Visible passion for the subject area, participation in community of practice activities and ability to organize related events.
  • Experience in Talent Management – recruitment and selection, onboarding, performance management, employee development and coaching, and reward and recognition.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), facilitation, reporting and presentation skills.
  • A Post-secondary degree or diploma in Information Technology, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
