Researcher Support:
•Provide comprehensive patient engagement plans for research projects as requested.
•Connect CHRIM researchers wanting to engage with patients to relevant populations for partnership opportunities.This may be direct connections or connections to community organizations who support these patients and families.
•Engage individuals for patient engagement consultations or involvement on a per-project basis
•Facilitate interviews/focus groups with patients as requested
•Outreach to CHRIM staff, researchers, trainees, students and other UofM groups to encourage patient engagement and the use of patient engagement services at CHRIM.
•Provide one on one support to research staff (including research support unit staff) to learn how to best engage with patients for their projects.
•Facilitate between researchers and patients to get letters of support and timely feedback for grants and research outputs.
•Function as the first point of contact and liaison between researchers and the CHRIM research advisory councils.Facilitate meetings between researchers and the CHRIM research advisory councils and get researcher feedback.
•iCARE/NextGen/DREAM
oAttends weekly meetings for iCARE and the NextGen studies.
oCoordinates the iCARE and the NextGen patient advisory group meetings, including recruitment activities, agenda development, and meeting facilitation.
oSupports students and researchers to engage with the advisory groups.
oCreate bi-annual newsletters for all participants of the iCARE and NextGen studies.
oEngages with the Can-SOLVE network and community on be-half of iCARE.
oCreates posters for presentation as requested by iCARE and NextGen studies.
oSupports advisory group ideas and initiatives.
oCreate outputs to support training needs, knowledge exchange and translation (infographics, social media, video).
oParticipates in outreach trips for community engagement as needed (may include northern travel).
Patient (child, parent/caregiver and family) Support:
•Create and build relationships with a diverse group of children, youth, and parent/caregivers.
•Coordinate CHRIM’s two research advisory councils, one for parents (RAC) and one for youth (RACY).Recruit, prepare presentation content and present, facilitate meetings and track follow-up.
•Co-chair the Manitoba Children’s Emergency Advisory Committee.
•Lead and support patient engagement activities in the ENRRICH and REACH research themes.
•Facilitate the first five meetings of project/program-specific advisory groups to establish structure, guiding principles, and necessary training of staff.
•Facilitates knowledge transfer between the project team and stakeholders/advisory groups on a regular basis, developing knowledge translation tools, lay abstracts of study findings and maintains communication with stakeholders/advisory groups.
•Provide support to patients (parents/caregivers and youth) to allow them to engage on research projects.
•Support the RAC and RACY to engage with the organization more broadly,
•Connect patients and families with research ideas to relevant researchers and/or support priority questions from patient communities.
•Support patients to share their experiences, ideas and stories as requested for research events (research rounds, grand rounds, CHRD etc)
•Advocate for administrative and process changes to make it easier for patients and researchers to work together.
•Share opportunities to partner in research with partners.
Institutional Support
•Network with key patient engagement contacts at other organizations in order to learn from their experiences, share our experiences and explore answers together.
•Actively work to share best practices in patient and family engagement, educating and sharing knowledge from expert organizations, including sourcing and/or creating resources to support researchers in child health to engage.
•Support the Strategic Initiatives position to implement CHRIM priorities.
•Be part of provincial and national initiatives as a patient and/or patient engagement specialist at management’s request (for example CHI patient engagement champions, CHEER and POPCORN)
•Be part of the CHRIM Scientific committee.
•Ensure CHRIM’s name and logo are on all patient engagement outputs.
Administration
•Track patient engagement consultations undertaken and provide quarterly reports of activities.
•In consultation with CHRIM leadership and patients, develop a framework, budget, and terms of reference for the CHRIM Research Advisory Committees (RAC&RACY).
•Manage the financial reimbursement of community member/elders and advisory committee members for the CHRIM RAC&RACY.
- •Other duties as assigned.
This is a full-time continuing position. Hours may include evenings and/or weekends
