Position description

The Centre for Continuing Education at Concordia University provides part-time employment to a range of subject-matter experts to teach in short-target courses and programs. Teaching tasks include the preparation of course and course plan, delivery of course, evaluating student performance and grading student work and grade submission. Instructors attend departmental meetings and attend professional development training activities related to the program.

Course description and learning outcomes

In this course, students will be learning issues like the ageing workforce, the rising cost of labour, competition for talented workers and Canadian legislation related to wage and salary levels. By the time students successfully complete the course, they’ll have the knowledge and skills to design and build a strategic compensation plan tailored to meet the needs of any organization.

By the end of this course, the students will be able to:

  • Develop equitable and appropriate compensation system for various types of
  • Introduce the basic elements of a remuneration and rewards system to an organization;

organizations;

  • Implement and manage an effective compensation system;
  • Establish compensation schemes for different categories of employees;
  • Recognize and act upon environmental factors that necessitate change.
Qualifications and assets
  • Education with an MBA or MSc (Administration), or equivalent
  • Note: this is a coordinated course. The coordinator will be selecting the pedagogical materials to be used.
  • Relevant Human Resource managerial experience at a medium- or large- sized organization for 5 years, where professional responsibilities included the planning, design, and / or management of compensation programs, or equivalent
  • Relevant teaching experience for 3 years or equivalent
  • Experience in the competency-based approach to teaching and learning

Description du poste

Formation continue Concordia offre à des experts techniques des postes à temps partiel d’enseignement de cours et de programmes de courte durée. Les tâches d’enseignement englobent la préparation du cours et l’élaboration du plan de cours, la prestation du cours, l’évaluation des étudiants, l’établissement des notes et la remise des résultats. Les enseignants assistent aux réunions du département et suivent des séances de perfectionnement professionnel se rapportant au programme enseigné.

Description du cours et objectifs d’apprentissage

Ce cours porte sur le développement et l’exploitation de réseaux informatiques, et couvre la communication de données et l’information réseau. Le cours aborde également les architectures de communication et la superposition de protocoles qui permettent de préparer le terrain pour les logiciels, les services et les protocoles des réseaux informatiques. Le cours comprend des travaux en laboratoire qui incluent des réseaux informatiques. Il utilise des outils comme des logiciels d’émulation de réseaux qui permettent aux étudiantes et étudiants de créer des modèles et de simuler des réseaux informatiques adéquats.

Après avoir suivi le cours, les étudiantes et étudiants seront en mesure:

  • De concevoir, de mettre en œuvre et d’examiner des réseaux en utilisant les logiciels d’émulation, la technologie et les outils interréseautage appropriés dans les environnements multiprotocoles.
  • D’évaluer et de comparer de façon critique les technologies et les architectures LAN et WAN;
  • D’expliquer et d’évaluer de façon critique les protocoles superposés (comme OSI et TCP/IP), les normes de réseaux locaux et étendus, et les composants du matériel informatique et des logiciels;
  • D’expliquer comment fonctionnent les composants des réseaux et comment ils s’agencent pour créer un système;
Qualifications et atouts
  • Expérience dans le domaine:Cinqans d’expérience professionnelle pertinente, ou l’équivalent, et troisans d’expérience en enseignement, ou l’équivalent
  • Atouts:Expérience des outils d’émulation des réseaux comme GNS3 ainsi que de la conception et de l’installation d’infrastructures de réseau
  • Études:B.A. ou M.A. en informatique, ou l’équivalent
