As a Manager, VCH Employee Childcare Program with Vancouver Coastal Health you will

• Ensure the childcare program has an equitable access approach that considers the childcare needs of healthcare staff including those that live in rural areas, work nights and weekends, or require specific child care needs.
• Act as the central point of contact between VCH staff and a range of internal and external partners, the Manager establishes and maintains relationships with various licensed childcare providers and other community resources for employees to have priority access to an extensive network of trusted and reliable childcare options, and offering well-informed and tailored recommendations to staff seeking childcare assistance.
• Ensure the program is effective in assisting employees with balancing their work responsibilities and navigating their childcare needs while helping our employees strike a balance between their professional responsibilities and family life.
• Provide expert guidance and support to VCH staff in managing their childcare needs and works closely with individuals to understand their unique childcare requirements and assisting them in finding suitable solutions.
• Engage with government agencies, hospital and community foundations to advocate for the expansion of licensed childcare providers and support funding applications for enhancing the availability and affordability of licensed childcare options, positively impacting the lives of VCH staff and their families.
• Be responsible for overseeing the employee childcare program by developing a framework and partner network, extending assistance to VCH staff and matching their childcare needs with licensed child care facilities.

Education & Experience

• Degree in a relevant discipline such as Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Psychology, Human Resources, or a related field (Master's level degree is preferred).
• Valid BC Driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes.
• 2 years’ recent, related experience such as coordinating childcare-related support for employees in a large unionized work environment, working as a childcare consultant, or family support specialist, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

• Strong understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and safety standards related to childcare
• Practices the recognition, inclusion and support of all types and aspects of diversity at all stages of engagement, with an understanding of the issues and lived experienced of people from equity-deserving groups
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a high level of empathy and sensitivity to employee needs
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build trust and rapport with employees seeking childcare assistance
• Ability to work collaboratively with partners internal to the organization such as Human Resources and Operations Management, and ability to network with external partners such as government agencies, ministries of Education and Childcare, community planners and developers at all levels
• Strong organizational skills to manage and prioritize multiple employee requests effectively
• Knowledge of childcare resources, local childcare facilities, and community support services
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Proficient using a variety of databases, including PeopleSoft, MS Office, Word and Excel, and other in-house databases

As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
