Your Opportunity
BDO Canada is looking for a Manager, National Assurance & Accounting Standards – Private Companies to join our National Assurance & Accounting Standards team.
This role is open to candidates located anywhere in Canada, and remote work arrangements are available for those not situated near a BDO Canada office.
This individual will be responsible for developing guidance, training, and practice tools for staff in local offices and enabling them to conduct engagements efficiently, effectively, and in accordance with relevant standards and Firm requirements.
The role consists of working in a team environment, offering multiple opportunities for teamwork, as well as individual projects. As part of a team, you will be assisting in the following areas:
  • Designing and delivering effective accounting and assurance and related services training programs for Partners and staff, including live instructor-led training, web-based training, and virtual instructor-led training
  • Developing accounting and assurance and related services publications, manuals, and other practice tools for internal and external distribution
  • Developing firm policies relating to accounting and assurance and related services engagements
  • Providing guidance and performing research to assist individuals in the Firm’s local offices on accounting and assurance and related services matters
  • Striving for efficiency when reviewing forms and policies while ensuring that standards and quality are met on a national level

Your Experience And Education
  • You possess a basic understanding of other standards, policies and procedures that interact with accounting and auditing including risk management, independence, tax, etc.
  • You have proficient knowledge of Canadian Assurance Standards (CASs) as well as the following Canadian financial reporting frameworks: Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE), Accounting Standards for Not-For-Profit Organizations (ASNPO), and Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS)
  • You possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Bilingualism (English/French) is preferred but not a requirement
  • You have effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • You have 3-5 years (post designation) of accounting and assurance standards experience
  • You have your CPA designation or equivalent designation
  • You have experience in delivering training and presentations, including development of relevant materials
