Job Description

This is an exciting role(1 year contract) for an individual to join a high performing team within the public sector. The Manager - Compensation & Benefits will provide leadership to the team and be responsible for overall administration of pension and benefits plans. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop salary determination and implement salary administration for all union and non-union support staff
  • Direct and oversee all aspects of the job evaluation process and pay equity program development and maintenance
  • Manage operations of the department in the design, development, implementation and administration of pension and benefit plans
  • Provide interpretation, advice, guidance and recommendations to senior officials and the Board in all matters related to pension and Long term disability programs and benefit plan administration
  • Establish and maintain policies for defining and funding present and future plan assets and liabilities, and establish premium rates for benefit plans
  • Act as Board representative on joint union/management committees;
  • Manage employee benefit plans including review of plans for competitiveness, compliance with legislative requirements and cost-effectiveness
  • Manage client service delivery by staff to ensure effective communication of the Long term disability program, employee benefit plans and retirement planning and counselling to all employee groups as it relates to employee benefit plans


Requirements:

  • Degree in Business Administration or Human Resources or related field
  • At least 5-7 years of related experience in a large unionized organization
  • In-depth knowledge of related employment and labour legislation such as Pension Act, Pay equity act etc.
  • Detailed knowledge of current pension, benefit and compensation trends;
  • Proven supervisory experience with leadership and mentoring skills
  • Specialized training and experience in designing and implementing benefit plans, pension plans, LTDI programs, job evaluation programs and pay equity plans
  • Excellent Communication, analytical/interpretative and problem-solving skills;
