Shift: Monday-Sunday 7:30am to 3:30pm & 3:30pm to 11:30pm (Rotating Schedule)

Pay Rate: $21.92

Maintenance Tech - Summer Contract - Position

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the building and equipment. This position will ensure the safe and efficient operation of the automated storage and retrieval system.

Specific Responsibilities And Functions

• Cleaning, lubricating and performing other routine maintenance work on building and machinery.
• Perform scheduled preventative and predictive maintenance and provide maintenance support for the automated storage and retrieval systems.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs to all warehouse equipment including but not limited to fork lifts, dock levelers, restraints, overhead doors, high speed doors, HVAC systems, water heaters, compressed air systems, fire suppression systems and conventional racking.
• Respond to emergency situations and support all operations of the building and automations systems.

Working Conditions

• Will regularly be required to stand, walk
• Required to have a high degree of concentration and alertness.
• Freezer area in the warehouse is approximately –15 degrees C. Some areas of the freezer can get as low as -23 degrees C.
• Cooler area in the warehouse is approximately 1 or 2 degrees C.
• Moderate noise level.
• Exposure to different temperature zones within the warehouse.
• Grocery area in the warehouse is room temperature; varies from cold in the winter and warm in the summer.

Additional Details

• GFS Delivers every day of the year, as we are a 24/7 operation. Employees must be flexible to work all Statutory Holidays, however, this does not necessarily mean that employees will be required to work all of them.
• There is a 30-minute paid lunch for an 8-hour shift
• During peak seasons, scheduled overtime is required, and may include up to 13 hour shifts.

Required Skills And Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
• Experience with maintenance and repair of lift trucks would be beneficial.
• Certificate of Ontario Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) 433A is preferred.
• Ability to think and respond well under pressure.
• Must have well developed knowledge and experience with mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Electrical experience will be considered beneficial.
• Must have 5+ years of direct hands-on experience in mechanical repairs and maintenance with automated equipment.
• Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings.
