CGL TAX is accepting resumes for an upcoming maternity leave term position working on-site in our Red Deer office to service our clients.
Full-time and Part-time options are available for the right candidate(s).
The latest anticipated start date would be September 11, 2023, and casual hours prior to that date may be available.
Responsibilities will include preparing full cycle bookkeeping for our corporate clients; gathering, compiling, and reconciling information; entering and performing spreadsheet analysis; and assisting co-workers in an administrative support role while working in an extremely positive and flexible team environment.

Job Duties
- Develop a thorough understanding of CGL Tax services, businesses, and industry
- Collaborate with the production team prior to the commencement of client work to discuss roles, responsibilities, and deadlines
- Provide internal administrative support duties like scanning and sorting client records as a key member of the production team
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, colleagues, and network
- Raise identified technical issues with management
- Respond to client questions and queries
- Contribute to the development of new ideas and assist in the implementation to improve work processes
- Full cycle bookkeeping for corporate and business client accounts
- Prepare bank reconciliations, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
- Work with multiple accounting software packages and provide support to clients
- Prepare personal tax returns, GST, and other tax compliance (T4 and T5 slips), ensuring compliance with government standards

Experience and Education Requirements
- Experience working with multiple bookkeeping software packages both online and on the desktop including Xero, Sage50, and QuickBooks
- Proficient working experience in the following applications will also be considered an asset. Please list any that apply in your application as well as any others you have experience using and at what level:
- Strong computer literacy and proficiency in learning new software quickly
- HubDoc, WagePoint, TaxCycle, DoxCycle, CaseWare, SharePoint, Power Automate, PowerPoint, FormStack, MailChimp, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe PhotoShop, Citrix ShareFile, RightSignature, WagePoint, GoProposal, Zapier
- Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook skills are an asset.
- Levels:Beginner – Intermediate - Proficient – Advanced – Expert
- Preference will be given to formal bookkeeping or accounting training
- Solid understanding of business and accounting principles
Additional Assets
- Experience in running your own business, working in a family-run business, or earning results-based remuneration like commissions so you can personally relate to our clients
- Relevant work experience in a public accounting firm
- Recent experience in using Zoom or Microsoft Teams video conferencing software to interact with the public and co-workers in a professional work environment

Compensation
- 3 weeks (6%) vacation pay
- 1 week (2%) paid personal leave able to be taken in as small as ½ day increments
- Base hourly wage will be based on experience and education.
- Ability to bank hours to allow for flexible or compressed scheduling
- New client recruitment commissions
- The remaining will be retroactive to the hire date after a 3-month probationary period:
- Employee profit-sharing program
- $400/month Health Spending Account
- Preferential screening will be given to those that provide their range of compensation expectation
