As a Junior Game Artist, you’ll assist the Digital Labs Arcade team in bringing digital mobile-gaming fan experiences to life in our apps (Leafs, Raptors, Toronto FC) and websites. You’ll work with Product, Marketing, Global Partnerships, and Professional Leagues on creating fun, engaging, and meaningful micro-games for fans of sports everywhere.

Responsibilities:

• Complete clients (partner/lead/supervisor) revisions on spec and on time.
• Learn and apply artistic/IP/licensing guidelines.
• Create and animate 2D art assets (characters, objects, effects, UI, game titles etc.) following a cohesive style and palette.
• Work with the lead game designer & developer to ensure that 2D assets are always game ready.
• Work alongside game developers to ensure clear intention and integration of game assets.
• Proactively communicate and coordinate tasks with the team members before and after you in the content pipeline (in person/slack/discord)
• Research, review and present concepts for new features, assets and partner integrations.
• Communicate task updates to your lead/supervisor, updating the status of your Notion tasks and completing assets in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• Posses passion for the craft and are able to express compelling ideas and concepts to partners/team leads/supervisors.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; shown ability to listen, understand and communicate effectively.
• Solid understanding of concepting and creating 2D art for web-based mobile games. Any 3D experience is an asset.
• Outstanding illustration and design skills. Passionate about 2D art and all things game related!
• An up-to-date portfolio showcasing a wide range of stylized 2D art (8bit, vector, etc), demonstrating a proven understanding of composition, posing, rendering, colour theory and perspective with a focus on polished execution and rendering techniques.
