Job Description

SAIT’s International Centre is focused on attracting international students to study at SAIT, assisting with their transition to the institute and life in Canada and supporting them while they study here. The Opportunity


Reporting to the Team Lead, the International Student Recruitment and Partnership Development Officer is primarily responsible for the recruitment of international students and partnership development for SAIT. This position has a national travel component within Western Canada and requires the incumbent to be out of city for extended periods of time. While the focus is international student recruitment within Canada, regional assignments overseas may be required. This position primarily assists in the development of strategies to attract international students, collects information and data on potential markets and helps to implement best practices in marketing and recruitment. In addition, it will serve as the main on-campus recruitment officer for the department by supporting a variety of regional recruitment activities, events, partnerships, and initiatives; while looking for partnerships with other institutions as well as promoting SAIT’s corporate development and project abilities. This position requires a high degree of adaptability to set priorities and be responsive to the demands of a broad range of stakeholders in an academic setting, both internationally and domestically. The incumbent is expected to be proactive in contributing to the success of SAIT’s international student recruitment within the International Centre and across the institution.


The Role


Student Recruitment


  • Research strategies and evaluate effectiveness of recruitment and marketing activities (create focus groups for stakeholders, surveys, consult education reps)
  • Selecting and attending events in Western Canada that align with enrollment outcomes
  • Develop proactive communication strategies for prospective students
  • When possible, collaborate with other Canadian and/or Alberta institutes to market and present joint seminars at recruitment fairs
  • Serve as the lead Recruitment Officer for the International Recruitment team
  • Monitor the activities of SAIT’s competition in international student recruitment and make recommendations on best strategies in recruitment practice
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the annual International Recruitment Strategy including preparation of business plans for each country, travel budgets and analysis of competition
  • Produce trip reports and provide feedback, leads and follow up for each country
  • Support Enrollment Management in collaboration with the Business Operations team
  • Update SAIT recruitment and admission systems with recruitment-based activities
  • Travel nationally to recruit international students and agents, as well as to participate in international recruitment related activities
  • Assist in the analysis of SAIT’s inquiry, application and enrolment trends, monitor and aid progress towards recruitment targets and recommend new strategies
  • Assist in the development of strategies to effectively market SAIT’s capabilities to international students
  • Be available for prospective walk in inquiries and appointments at the International Centre office, and following up on these leads for conversion and data tracking
  • Complete expense reports for all travel in a timely manner based on SAIT’s Travel policies and corporate credit card policies
  • Lead the implementation of the International High School Strategy in Western Canada
  • Provide ongoing follow up with recruitment leads to improve conversion rates
  • Arrange SAIT’s participation in international student recruitment fairs and events both nationally and internationally
  • Act as the liaison between the Recruitment Team and other units on campus including scheduling academic presentations, website changes and reviews, triaging FreshDesk tickets, reviewing of promotional and recruitment materials, and Admissions


Agent Relations


  • Coordinate in country orientation and training for new and current agents
  • Provide input for updates to the Agent Training Manual
  • Agent management
  • Often the first point of contact for new and current agents in the country, the incumbent can assess suitability and develop relationships
  • Provide input for the semi-annual agent report
  • Proactively recruit agents in emerging markets and make recommendations for partnerships


Management of Partnerships and Projects


  • Establish and maintain relationships with Canadian School High School boards to reach local international student populations
  • Serve as a committee representative on international education committees
  • Establish and maintain relationships with other Canadian Institutions for partnership and collaboration opportunities
  • Maintain relationships with English language schools to reach local international student populations
  • Support relationships with international school boards and community organizations overseas
  • Represent SAIT at international education events, with the objective of international enrollments
  • Identify pathway partnership opportunities with English Language schools
  • Serve as the lead Recruitment Officer on projects and initiatives relating to recruitment feedback and new program offerings
  • Maintain current external strategic relationships and identify new opportunities for SAIT
  • Collaborate with the International Recruitment team on various initiatives and projects
  • Collaborate with Marketing stakeholders to advise and recommend on Marketing collateral and recruitment trends
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local community organizations and associations to reach newcomer groups, with the objective of international enrollments
  • Meet with schools prior to recruitment trips to learn about new programs or changes to existing programs
  • Responsible for the reviewing of print and electronic materials to ensure it is updated and in proper supply at the International Centre Office including program lists, one pagers, brochures, etc
  • Support program pathway opportunities with the ELF and Academic Upgrading departments
  • Establish and maintain relationships with Canadian Embassies, Alberta Trade Offices and Canadian Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship officers/staff
Qualifications & Experience


Education


  • 4 year bachelor’s degree in studies related to Adult Education, International Relations, Human Services, Intercultural Communication and/or Marketing (or equivalent work experience and education)


Experience


  • International Transcript Assessment Training would be considered an asset
  • Demonstrated understanding of the international student experience and the issues faced by international students
  • At least 3 years working in a cross-cultural environment preferably with international students
  • Experience communicating to a diverse audience through various mediums, coupled with the ability to establish and maintain effective cross-cultural relationships
  • At Least 3-5 years of recruitment experience in post-secondary education


Licenses/Certificates


  • RISIA would be considered an asset
  • A valid Driver’s License is required
  • A valid Passport is essential for this role


Other Requirements


  • Ability to work for extended periods of time outside of Calgary/Canada
  • Some heavy lifting is required
  • Ability to work late nights or early mornings due to time zone differences
  • Exhibit cultural sensitivity and discretion
Salary range: $71,000 - $77,500


Paid Leave: 4 Weeks Vacation / 14 Flex Days per year


Hours Per Week: 37.5
