The Opportunity:

Liberty Mutual Global Risk Solutions (GRS) is looking for a Head of Business Agility who will be responsible for ensuring adoption of agile delivery practices, defining the customer journey, designing the user experience, and enabling business outcomes through product delivery (e.g., investments in digital and technology).

This role will serve as an advocate for the business and user to connect technology strategy to the Product Management function and drive business outcomes through technology execution. In coordination with Business COOs, focused Global Function leaders, and Global Technology leaders, this role is co-accountable for the delivery of business value through technology, digital, and data products, maximizing productive use of GRS scale.

This role will have the overall accountability to serve as the "voice of the user" for products with a primary focus on decision making, managing, and prioritizing the integrated product strategies and roadmaps to align with business outcomes. The head of Business Agility will serve as the primary management leader of all members of the Product Management discipline (e.g., Product Managers, Product Owners), as well as User Experience Designers, who will serve as integrated members of Agile delivery teams and partner with GRS Technology to execute on the product strategy.

This leader is accountable for the development and deployment of product management services related to Product Portfolio Management, Continuous Improvement, and Customer Enablement in alignment with prescribed Enterprise Product Management standards and methodologies.

This role will work closely with leaders across the organization to identify change management implications of new product implementations / enhancements and to sponsor relevant change management interventions. This leader must have the ability to serve as a change agent that builds relationships across the organization and applies a customer-centric mindset along with design-thinking tools to deliver products that are desirable, viable, and feasible.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategy and Planning:

  • Re-envision the target state client, broker, and employee experience journey across products to understand and improve upon the customer journey
  • Co-accountable for the short-and-long-term strategy and partnering to drive implementation of digital and technology initiatives that drive prioritized business outcomes
  • Develop and maintain a clear and compelling product delivery roadmap for GRS's strategic capability improvements along with quantification and qualification for the case for change that will enable the product strategy and help deliver on business value while maximizing use of GRS scale
  • Ideate on a product strategy which will deliver an optimized client, broker, and employee experience and deliver business objectives in alignment with GRS strategic ambitions


Execution:

  • Resolves key risks and issues and escalates to Business and Technology leadership as appropriate
  • In partnership with GRS Technology, identify new products and areas to align innovative and emerging technology solutions to the needs of the business through the application of Product Management best practices
  • Lead Product Owners and Product Managers who will drive the delivery of the product roadmap, an translate business need to functional and technology requirements, and prioritize the product backlog that guides execution
  • Sponsors and champions change management interventions to align the organization to impacts of new product capabilities
  • Validates that product implementation supports the business needs and objectives, partnering with GRS Technology on activities related to quality of delivery and execution across the portfolio
  • Establish product objectives and key results, and targets to inform the monitoring of product performance at the portfolio and individual level against investments
  • Work closely with the Business COOs, focused Global Function leaders, and Global Technology leaders and members of the GRS COO Advisory Group, to drive prioritization of investment to mature GRS' digital capabilities and establish robust governance and measurement methodologies to support the tracking of benefits realization



Capability Development:

  • Establish consistent and standard role descriptions for the Product Owner and UI/UX Designer job families across GRS and ensure alignment with Enterprise approach
  • Partner with GRS Talent to develop a talent strategy in support of longer-term program needs and drive a team culture in alignment with broader organizational culture imperatives
  • Management and implement the Product Management service catalog for GRS in partnership with GRS Technology
  • Evolve the scaled Agile delivery model in alignment with emerging Enterprise Product
  • Must be committed to living GRS' inclusive values, consistently seeking a breadth of perspectives and driving cross-functional collaboration that results in measurable business outcomes
  • Partner with GRS Technology to sponsor initiatives to advance the progress on reducing our technology debt while building new capabilities




Skills & Qualifications:


Technical skills:

  • Deep knowledge of insurance, with an end-to-end understanding of value chain for respective solution domains
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise with of scaled agile methodology, technology delivery, and experience with technology engineering
  • Understanding of customer/user experience best practices

Management Skills:

  • Demonstrate leadership building at a Global scale
  • The ability to communicate a product strategy to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong prioritization mentality, with the ability to mandate and navigate business segments through changing and competing priorities
  • The ability to effectively report measurable progress towards value outcomes, to audiences of all levels
  • Must be committed to living our inclusive values
  • Strategic mindset to design a transformation strategy to address innovation, business value, execution disruption, and digital delivery
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, 15+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong problem-solving acumen, with a focus on business outcomes
  • Familiarity driving outcomes in a matrixed organization and in contemporary ways of working (e.g., "team of teams" model)
  • Deep understanding of change management best practices
