Position Overview:
Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, the Financial Controller plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the financial activities of MaxSold. The primary responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day financial operations, ensuring compliance with government regulations, and working directly with all departments to meet all of our stakeholders needs.
Responsibilities:
The Financial Controller is responsible for carrying out and / or overseeing the the following functions:
- Leading the annual financial audit.
- Processing payroll, annual T4s, ROEs, and other employee forms as required.
- Bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Building and maintaining working relationships with bankers, insurers, merchant card providers and auditors.
- Cash management.
- Filing and monitoring of value added taxes, payroll taxes, and corporate taxes for both Canada and the US (including state and county/municipal reporting)
- Assist with Canadian and US government tax related audits and inquiries.
- Preparing financial analysis and insights that will be used for decision making by the Director Finance, CFO, Board of Directors, Audit Committee, Executive and Department Leads.
- Supporting all departments with timely response to stakeholder related inquiries.
- Complete weekly, monthly and annual close processes.
- Working with Operations, collecting auction proceeds and distribution of chattel payments.
- Participating in cross functional teams on various projects.
- Other duties may be assigned from time to time.
- Working with colleagues in Finance and other departments to implement and oversee accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Accounts payable and procurement.
- Ensuring compliance with transfer pricing agreements.
Qualifications & Experience:
- At least 5 years’ experience post-certification, which includes experience in private enterprise.
- Knowledge of applicable Canadian accounting standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively in support of the company’s strategic objectives.
- Chartered Professional Accountant or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of Canadian tax regulations is required, and familiarity with US tax regulations is preferred
- NetSuite experience is preferred.
- Exceptional and proven communication, organizational, analytic, and leadership skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Experience with working in a data-driven environment.
