Joist - Junior Web Engineer (Remote, Canada)

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and communicate with various parts of the business to solve problems effectively
• Bring passion and a hunger for disrupting an entrenched industry, embracing technology, change, learning, and building revolutionary products
• Write effective, modern, and highly readable code, while continuously seeking feedback and suggestions for improvement
• Contribute to solutions from inception to deployment, supporting rapid iteration and innovation
• Utilize CS fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, design patterns, and data storage technologies

Skills And Experience

• Comfortable working with minimal supervision and asking the right questions to overcome obstacles
• Familiarity with version control systems like GIT
• Hands-on experience with vanilla Javascript ES6+ and one or more JS frameworks (preferably React or similar)
• Proficiency in working with JS data structures like arrays and objects, using best practices
• Experience with CSS pre-processors such as SASS/SCSS
• Development of responsive web apps
• Ability to receive constructive feedback positively and proactively seek ways to improve

Bonus Skills And Experience

• Familiarity with form libraries, preferably Formik
• Familiarity with state management libraries for React, such as Redux Toolkit or similar
• Knowledge of unit testing frameworks like Jest & Enzyme or similar
• Understanding of accessibility principles

Location:

This role is open to candidates located anywhere in Canada. There is flexibility to work remotely or in-office if near one of our office locations. Please note that eligibility to work without sponsorship is required, and travel to other office locations may be necessary.
