Job Description

About Our Client:

Our client is a financial services company.

Position Scope:

Reporting to the VP, Human Resources, the Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) is the primary HR liaison for their growing number of locations - both employees and management team. The successful candidate is an individual with outstanding people skills and a role model for the company’s core values. Highly organized, motivated, independent yet communicative, the HRBP will ensure that the company’s HR programs and initiatives are translated to practical and meaningful outcomes at their locations. Duties of the HRBP will play a key role in further establishing the HR function in a high-growth, exciting company.

Closely working with the VP, Operations and Regional and Location Managers, the HRBP is a knowledgeable HR professional with a broad generalist background, providing front-line expertise, advice and support to clients. The HRBP will enable the development and implementation of HR practices and programs in support of the company achieving its business goals and growth plans. Regular travel to field locations is required (approximately 3 or 4 days / week).


Responsibilities:

Act as a point of contact for site management and employees on all HR related matters – champion HR initiatives and facilitate the respect and understanding of HR policies.

Employee and Management Support

  • Advise management on handling employee matters.
  • Provide counsel to employees and management – ability to strike the right balance of advocate for employee and business.

On-Boarding

  • Ensure all aspects of on-boarding requirements/new hire data collection via Dayforce is completed in a timely fashion for new hires.
  • Deliver quarterly on-boarding sessions for new hires in support of positive new hire experiences.

Recruitment

  • Educate management on recruitment best practices and interviewing techniques.
  • Find innovative ways to source candidates along side the Manager, Talent Acquisition.
  • Ensure recruitment processes/approvals are followed.
  • Coordinate with the HR Associate and/or Manager, Talent Acquisition on job postings, interviews, assessments, job offers, references, background checks, recruitment reports, Dayforce entries, etc.
  • Implement recruitment best practices to foster excellent hiring decisions – conduct interviews with Regional Managers to ensure all candidates are screened for job requirements and cultural fit.

Performance Management

  • Oversee and guide performance management activities.
  • Educate employees on utilizing performance management tools (Dayforce) - Prepare presentations and conduct training on the company performance process and best practices.
  • Support the preparation and distribution of reports and compensation (bonus and merit) letters.
  • Support management in the preparation of performance improvement plans.
  • Facilitation of exits and conduct exit interviews when appropriate.

Learning & Development

  • Track completed L&D programs.
  • Support corporate training program implementation and sustainment practices.
  • Identify employee training needs and source learning vendors.

Employee Engagement

  • Conduct gap analysis and support management in action planning to address areas of concern - partner with management to ensure progress is made.
  • Manage the employee engagement surveys process, striving for high participation rates.
  • Prepares summary reports for management.

Policies & Procedures

  • Development of policies and procedures specific to employees.
  • Ensure employees complete on-line policy acknowledgement and training.
  • Conduct investigations as necessary.

Benefits & WSIB & Wellness

  • Manage the documentation process for WSIB administration and manage the return-to-work and accommodation process – coordinate with the Regional Mangers and HR team.
  • Wellness Champion – source offerings tailored for the property portfolio and promote the wellness program.
  • Provide guidance regarding benefit inquiries.

Health & Safety

  • Ensures Health & Safety process/policies are followed.
  • Special Projects as required based on business needs.
  • Work with Health & Safety experts to ensure all regulatory requirements are adhered to and all necessary documentation is completed.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Represent the HR function in a relatable, professional and knowledgeable light – highly influential and persuasive.
  • Demonstrated expertise in preparing business cases, presentations and well thought out, accurate materials.
  • Highly organized and efficient use of time – ability to balance travel time and delivering results.
  • Independent yet highly communicative - positive mindset and natural team player.


Education and Experience:

  • Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario (HRPA) with CHRP or CHRL designation.
  • 10+ years HRBP/Generalist/Recruitment background in a property management environment or related field.
  • Ceridian Dayforce highly desirable.
  • Proven record of delivering tangible results as a HRBP.
  • Experience in a high growth, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field and/or HR certification.
  • Excellent understanding of provincial/federal employment law, regulations, and best practices.
