Electrician - Data Centre Facilities - Toronto, ON
We are looking for a Data Centre Facility Electrician to support a critical data center. The Critical Facility Electrician will be responsible for monitoring compliance with contractual commitments, directing technical and administrative tasks related to the operation of the critical facility infrastructure and assuring compliance with company’s policies and procedures. The Data Center is a 7x24x365 a year operation.
Responsibilities

• Propose improvements in terms of urbanization, cabling organization or any client installed component
• Manage installs against aggressive schedules
• Optimize cooling and electrical distribution for optimal PUE
• Participate in pre-sales engineering of Customer solutions
• Manage and track electrical capacity, UPS loads, customer consumption and breaker availability
• Participate in equipment startup and commissioning
• Manage all aspects of the Electrical operations within the Data Centers, and facilities to include UPS Systems, 13.2kW transformers, 480V Distribution Systems, PDUs/RPCs, and Building Electrical
• Manage and track cooling capacity, temperatures, and efficiency throughout the Data Centers
• Ensure that best practices are adhered to in areas of cooling and electrical documentation
• Participate in regular facilities audits
• Install AC and DC circuits from PDU to Customer Cabinets
• Plan physical environment installations including capacity expansions, system upgrades, and new CRAC, In-Row cooling, UPS, distribution panels, etc.
• Responsible for leading the troubleshooting process and repairs in case of events or equipment failure. Make recommendations to prevent reoccurrence of such events.
• Maintain detailed site specification documentation of As-Builts, Single-Lines and pre-sales spec sheets
• Review and approve all facilities maintenance tasks/MOPS when required as part of change management system
• Manage and document vendor provided preventive maintenances per the manufacturer’s specifications of all equipment
• Participate in facilities post incident reviews as required
• Maintain accurate site documentation such as maintenance records, power consumption, temperature trends, PUE trends, etc.
• Oversee and monitor all facilities record keeping and update dashboards related to this field of work

Qualifications

• Must have experience in operating, troubleshooting and maintenance of Mission Critical Mechanical and/or Electrical Support Systems
• Knowledge of telecommunications and data centre operations
• Experience with cooling subsystems such as Chillers, CRAC, CRAH, etc.
• Can work independently and consistently achieve results
• Active Electrician's License Required
• Experience in large, complex construction projects
• Attention to detail with good organizational capabilities
• Ability to prioritize with good time management skills
• Understanding of IT systems including but not limited to servers, network systems, fiber and copper cabling
• 5+ years of relevant / technical knowledge and practical experience of Critical Facilities Operations with Electrical and Mechanical / HVAC equipment such as: UPS, Generators, Switchgears, PDU's, CRAC Units, DC Power Systems, CRAH Units, Chillers, Air handling units, computer grade cooling systems, CRAH Units, DC Power Systems, and building monitoring / control systems
• Strong verbal, written communications skills
• Master Electrician preferred
• Previous experience a plus in the Military / Military veterans in all branches that have experience with Electrical / Mechanical (Navy Nukes- EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army - Power Generation, Air Force – Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, or Canadian Equivalent etc.)
• Comfort in working in a fact paced 24/7 environment
• Ability to read and understand single line diagrams
