Role Description

We are looking for a Director of Technology Innovation to join our team in Richmond, BC. This is a full-time, on-site role. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development of innovative technology solutions to meet the needs of our customers. They will be responsible for overseeing the research and development of new products, managing the design and development process, and ensuring that the products meet the highest standards of quality.

• • Strategic Innovation – Building and communicating business strategy and technology cases; identifying industry trends, technology trends, market trends, translating into business development, technology roadmaps, implementing product portfolio management.
• • New Product Development and R&D Leadership -overseeing and coordinating various aspects of research and product development programs in the medical device industry. This includes managing, planning, budgeting, financing, recruiting, and leading both internal and external initiatives.Expertise extends to areas such as diagnostics, optical devices, point-of-care solutions, and blood sample testing.Play a crucial role in championing the advancement of technology and ensuring the successful implementation of the product development stage-gate process.
• • New Business and Technology Due Diligence -new product development and business opportunities. These include conducting strategic assessments, engaging in customer discovery to understand their needs and preferences, generating innovative ideas, overseeing product design and ensuring usability, evaluating technologies, driving business development efforts, and implementing effective marketing strategies.process of bringing new products to market, from initial ideation to market launch.Focus on identifying promising business opportunities, conceptualizing and designing products that meet customer requirements, assessing the feasibility and viability of technologies, and ultimately driving their successful introduction and commercialization through strategic marketing and business development initiatives.
• • IP Assessment & Development - Defining intellectual property strategy, conducting due diligence, implementing a major IP portfolio in start-up new technology company, negotiating licensing agreements

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of software development and design principles
• Knowledge of product development processes
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of quality assurance and control processes
• Experience in leading research and development teams
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Relevant experience in a similar role
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards
• Strong technical background in biotechnology, engineering, or a related field

In addition to the above qualifications, any experience in the medical device industry, knowledge of medical device regulations, and experience with product commercialization would be beneficial.
