Research Engineer, Bioprinting Innovation

We are looking for a Research Engineer to join the Bioprinting Innovation team, working on new approaches to develop bioprinted tissue therapeutics using our microfluidic 3D bioprinting technology. In this role, you will be designing and optimizing new processes for bioprinting tissue therapeutics through collaboration, innovating thinking, and meticulous experimentation. You will work closely with other team members to take concepts from ideation through to pre-clinical testing.

What You’ll Do

• Create and execute assays to characterize bioprinted constructs, involving techniques such as microscopy, ELISA, rheology, and mechanical testing
• Use rapid prototyping (CAD, 3D printing) to develop and assess new bioprinting tools and strategies; work with the technical development team to optimize and implement prototypes
• Develop new bioprinting strategies, biomaterials, and tools to enable bioprinting of tissue therapeutics in close collaboration with other R&D team members (biologists, biomaterials scientists, engineers)
• Develop a deep understanding of Aspect’s microfluidic 3D bioprinting technology and the ability to troubleshoot and innovate as a technical expert
• Maintain rigorous records of experimental procedures and results, prepare reports, and communicate findings to the team
• Keep abreast of the latest research developments in the field and incorporate findings into research activities
• Perform mammalian cell culture, bioink preparation, and other aseptic processes required for printing of bioprinted tissue therapeutics

• Education: PhD (or MSc + experience) in biomedical engineering, tissue engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or related discipline
