Job Description
We are looking for a Research Associate to join the Bioprinting Innovation team, working to develop new approaches using our microfluidic 3D bioprinting technology to develop bioprinted tissue therapeutics. In this hands-on role, you will be working with the team to design and test new bioprinting strategies, taking concepts from ideation through to pre-clinical testing

What You'll Do

  • Become an expert user of Aspect’s microfluidic 3D bioprinting technology and develop the ability to troubleshoot experiments and improve processes
  • Maintain rigorous records of experimental procedures and results, prepare reports, and communicate findings to the team
  • Perform mammalian cell culture, bioink preparation, and other aseptic processes required for printing of bioprinted tissue therapeutics
  • Create and execute assays to characterize bioprinted constructs, involving techniques such as microscopy, ELISA, rheology, and mechanical testing
  • Develop new bioprinting strategies, biomaterials, and tools to enable bioprinting of tissue therapeutics in close collaboration with other R&D team members (biologists, biomaterials scientists, engineers)
  • Keep abreast of the latest research developments in the field and incorporate findings into research activities
WHO YOU ARE

  • Education: MSc (or BSc + experience) in biomedical engineering, tissue engineering, biology, biotechnology, or related discipline
  • Thrive in Ambiguity: You are highly adaptable, agile, and poised when faced with change, ambiguity, and competing priorities
  • Effective Communicator: You are an active listener who can communicate to different audiences in diverse situations
  • Detail-Oriented: You have outstanding attention to detail as well as experimental and process rigour. You take pride in your work and strive for excellence
  • Technical Problem Solver: You have experience working with complex technical equipment and are comfortable troubleshooting and developing new processes
  • Go-Getter: You work with a sense of urgency, are results-driven, and thrive in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary, and entrepreneurial environment. You are willing to roll up your sleeves and do what it takes to get the job done
  • Biomaterials Experience: Experience working with hydrogels or other types of biomaterials would be an asset
  • Cell Culture Experience: You have experience working with multiple primary or stem cell types
  • Collaborative: You thrive in a multi-disciplinary team environment and believe that we can get further, faster by working together
