Our Marketing & Communications Team:
Our talented Marketing & Communications team is made up of creative professionals with subject-matter expertise in disciplines including corporate communications, media relations, digital engagement, social media, graphic design and writing. They showcase and increase awareness of our critical cause and the incredible work we do, tell impactful stories and ensure arthritis is positioned as a top 5 health concern.
Purpose of Role:
Working in collaboration with the Senior Director, Digital Engagement and Director, Brand Marketing & Campaigns – as well as the IT team - The Director, Marketing & Technology will play a crucial role in bridging our organizations digital functionality with both digital and traditional marketing and communications efforts. The Director will work to ensure all marketing, communications and digital strategies are aligned and leveraged in partnership with technological functionality, available and potential platforms, messaging and timing to ensure the organization is working to maximize ROI per stated goals. This results-oriented leader will ensure strategic alignment, execution and ongoing optimization of Arthritis Society Canada's paid, organic, shared and owned digital media programs, media partnerships and content marketing.
Key Accountabilities:
- Collaborating with content owners to optimise user experience, identify new opportunities for development, and ensure brand integrity.
- Leading digital vendor management for online properties, resources and services.
- Overseeing the strategic development of the email channel to optimise user experience, whilst aligning to overall goals and priorities of mission, fundraising, and awareness nation-wide.
- Overseeing the strategic planning, execution and ongoing optimization of our marketing efforts through technology - including, but not limited to, paid search, social media, display, re-marketing, native, YouTube/video, and affiliated channels, website, webinars and other online events.
- Overseeing social media strategy, campaigns and digital content calendar ensuring achievement of goals, key message delivery, audience engagement and positive brand affinity.
- Leading SEO initiatives for organic optimization, including on-page optimization for content strategy and engagement and technical optimization.
- Leading the digital brand and awareness strategy for Arthritis Society Canada’s online platforms including website, social media and email, aligning to overall business strategy and program priorities of mission, fundraising and awareness outreach.
- Evaluating and providing reporting for digital brand and awareness functions to stakeholder teams, aligned with the organization’s emerging Data Strategy.
- Overseeing our web properties, including website development, activation and ongoing management, including Content Management System, user journey, experience, testing and quality assurance.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- Familiarity with and understanding of a complex, multi-stakeholder environment and sensitivity to issues impacting organizational reputation.
- Experience and ability to serve as a spokesperson on organizational matters, as necessary.
- 5 years of direct work experience in a communications capacity.
- Energetic, self-motivated, and results oriented.
- University degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or equivalent with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in the private/public sector, or an equivalent of education and experience.
- Excellent judgment and the ability to be flexible and diplomatic.
- Excellent technology skills.
- Exceptional oral and written communication, presentation, interpersonal and client relationship management skills are essential. Bilingual (English and French) language skills an asset.
- Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines, ability to identify and resolve or escalate conflicts.
