POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the planning, organization, and implementation of innovative programs based on established standards, policies, and procedures, which will advance or maintain the lifestyle of residents and improve the overall delivery of health care to our residents.
The position of Director, Programs, and Community Support Services requires that considerable attention be given to resident and family needs with time given to responding to their questions and concerns.
Director, Programs and Community Support Services will manage all Programs at SCOC and is wholly or in part responsible for the Allied services which include Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation/Restorative/Palliative Care, Recreation, Volunteers, Purchase Services, Pastoral Care, ADP, SALC, Community Relations, Community Outreach, Public Relations, Fund Raising, Marketing, and liaising with the government as required.
QUALIFICATION AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
·A community college/university degree in social science, recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or other related field and at least one (2) year experience in a health care setting. Additional courses related to project management and leadership are highly desirable.
·Must have held a program manager position at a long-term care home, and meet the updated qualifications set out in the regulations.
·Experience working in a senior management capacity, extensive group facilitation experience; coaching and leadership.
·Proven flexibility and creativity, excellent oral and written communication skills.
·Training in conflict management, addictions, and mental health is an asset.
·Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, creativity, and high motivation are a must.
·Knowledge of community resources and program development is an asset.
·Knowledge of computers and associated applications are required.
·CPR and First Aid qualifications must pass a criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
·Must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19
