Job Description

The Director of Distribution is responsible for leading strategic business plans and driving superior distribution strategy and execution for Red Bull Canada’s distribution partners. They will guarantee every market is driving best-in-class sales and efficient operational processes/systems while ensuring the implementation of Red Bull’s standards of in-store excellence in the marketplace.



The Director of Distribution will also be responsible for on-going evaluation of Red Bull Canada’s distribution network to ensure maximum distribution for Red Bull Energy drink across all channels (Off Premise, On Premise, Emerging Channels).



The Director of Distribution will be the key owner of all Distributor Partner plans, activities, and results within each region across the country.



STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT AND EXECUTION:

  • Project future distributor network opportunities and recommend plan to address.
  • Develop and deliver annual strategic business plans for Red Bull Canada on distribution development, key performance indicators (KPI), in-store execution, and independent channel volume.
  • Serve as the conduit and primary communicator to RB North America and Global Headquarters for Red Bull Canada distribution updates and initiatives.
  • Closely work cross-functionally within the HQ departments to ensure proper in-market execution of key initiatives (i.e. product launches, key account promotions, routing implementation, etc.).
  • Guide and facilitate the annual Distribution Partner business planning process from conception to execution.
  • Develop and manage annual distribution budget (VIP, activation funds, wholesale investment, POS, training).
  • Identify opportunities for performance improvement and provide direction to course correct as required.
  • Ensure the development and strong working relationships with distributors at all levels of key decision makers.



TARGET AND STANDARD SETTING:

  • Build out distribution best practices, policies and procedures that will be utilized across third party distributor network as well as Red Bull Canada Distribution (RBCD).
  • Drive strategic standardized national distribution tracking and reporting to effectively measure distribution, volume and execution of KPI’s.
  • Define and manage the appropriate management routines, call coverage/frequency model, and business reviews to effectively influence and maintain DP commitment.
  • Work with Head of Off Premise Sales and Head of On Premise Sales to define annual and monthly volume targets, KPI priorities, strategies and goals for each market.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the distribution organization to ensure operational objectives are met or exceeded and that sales and distribution targets are flawlessly executed to standard.



ROUTE-TO-MARKET & SALES OPTIMIZATION:

  • Utilize an effective VIP program that ensures in-outlet performance objectives are met.
  • Develop a winning strategy to grow the non-funded independent sub-channels.
  • On-going evaluation of current route-to-market for efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • Work with Director of Emerging Channels to evaluate most efficient and effective routes to market for each customer within the channel.



BUILD, DEVELOP, AND LEAD A HIGH PERFORMING TEAM:

  • Manage, coach, and teach direct reports and Distribution Managers to build capabilities and motivate high performance.
  • Wire-in with each of the broader regional cell teams, to provide support back into RBCA HQ stakeholders.
  • Firmly establish the distribution department as a catalyst and key contributor to the success of the business.
  • Develop the long-term distribution team structure in accordance with the long-term vision of the broader organization.
  • Establish, and maintain the appropriate organization structure and coverage model, to effectively manage the distribution network.
  • Defined team meetings, ride-withs, and performance reviews with distributors.
  • Reviews distributor performance and capabilities, through regular Monthly Planning/Quarterly Business Review integration.
  • Identify team/individual skill development opportunities and utilize the appropriate training program(s) for improvement.
  • Spend adequate time with team in office and field to build capability and improve performance.



EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Willingness to receive and act on critical feedback.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using internal and external data sources (i.e. Neilsen, Encompass, etc.).
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability be a change agent and coach.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Creative, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication and active listening skills.
  • Excellent negotiator and influencer.
  • 10 years managing a FMCG DSD network.
  • DSD Sales, Execution, Operations and RTM strategies.



EDUCATION REQUIRED

Bachelor’s Degree in Business preferred



LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Fluent in English, French considered as asset
