Your dream job might be just around the corner! Our client is an established not-for-profit that provides valuable services to different sectors of the local community. Due to growth, they are hiring for a Director of Finance & Administration to lead a small team. This is a 100% onsite position in Hamilton.
The Role
The Director of Finance & Administration role reports to the CEO and leads a team of 4 staff. This role is comprised of 50% leadership and strategic planning, combined with 50% day-to-day duties. As the Director of Finance & Administration , you are responsible for Ministry financial reporting, month end close, cash flow management, budgeting, forecasting, business cases and presentation of financial results to the Board of Directors. The Director of Finance & Administration has overall responsibility for all aspects of finance & accounting, IT and facilities.
What You Bring To The Role
To be considered for the position of Director of Finance & Administration, you must be a designated CPA. You must be a strong people manager and able to effectively lead a team. You must have experience managing full cycle accounting and the month end close. While you will not be involved in the daily transactional work, you must have a clear understanding of what needs to be done and be willing to jump in when necessary to support your team. You must have a strong strategic vision and the ability to look forward in a planning capacity. The Director of Finance & Administration is responsible for taking the organization's strategic objectives and implementing them. The ideal candidate balances the day-to-day transactional operations with the overall strategic vision of the organization. While past not-for-profit experience is an asset, it is not a requirement. If you do not have hands-on not-for-profit experience, you must understand the lean budgets inherent in small organizations and be willing to wear many hats and dive into the details when necessary.

Requirements

• Contract negotiations
• Implement financial policies and procedures
• Manage full-cycle accounting process
• Review monthly financial statements and financial package
• Act as liaison to Audit & Resource Committee
• Manage small team of accounting and IT staff
• Cash flow management and projections
• Oversee month end close
• Lead annual budgeting process
• Work closely with other Directors on government proposals and new programs
• Present financial results to CEO, Board of Directors and Senior Management Team
• Manage year-end audit
• Oversee facilities management including leases, utilities and renovations
• Overall IT strategy
