Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Director of Application Solutions is a pivotal contributor to the IT leadership team. It plays a crucial role in the continued development and execution of the application portfolio deployed at the Electrical Safety Authority.
As the Director of Application Solutions, you will be responsible for the strategy, design and implementation of the foundational functions required to run the Application Development. You support the organization's solution architecture, system analysis, project design and development, enhancements, and production issues.
Your accountability spans the enterprise for technology applications and solutions built and purchased. Responsibilities include policy development, processes, Tier 3 support and operational controls designed to ensure the application portfolio's stability, scalability, integrity, security and monitoring to support the effective delivery of the IT services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide coaching, mentoring and management to direct reports and the overall development team to achieve business, functional and individual goals.
- Collaborate with the IT leadership team to ensure alignment of priorities, approaches and activities cross teams to deliver effectively on overall IT team objectives.
- Collaborate with business teams to develop strategic business plans and project business cases.
- Participate in creating and managing the function budget and report on actual costs and forecast regularly through the fiscal year.
- Responsible for leading the execution of the backup and Disaster Recovery (DR) functions for the application portfolio both in simulation and during triggered DR events.
Who Are You?
The successful incumbent for this position will have a university degree in computer science, information systems or a related discipline is preferred.
At least 5 years leading a technology application development and support team and minimum of 8 years of progressive people management experience within a unionized environment.
You will also have the following experience:
- 10+ years of experience in technology application development and support
- Requires the ability to balance strategic and operational delivery to meet current and ongoing business needs.
- Effectively manages competing priorities and timelines.
- Requires strong leadership skills to build and maintain effective relationships with business partners, vendors, and IT teams to achieve results.
- You have an expert understanding of emerging application technologies.
