Job Description

The Decking and Railing Outside Sales Associate (DROSA) is responsible for leading the charge to grow profitable sales of Decking, Railing and Outdoor Structures (DR&OS) within their assigned territory. The DROSA is focused to grow sales by making face-to-face calls on current customers as well as prospecting for new business. Internally the DROSA must work with inside and outside salespeople along with managers to help lead, educate, and support them in growing DR&OS sales as a dedicated salesforce multiplier for the team.


The DROSA must be able to work across all levels of the branch regardless of reporting structure to accomplish strategic goals. The purpose of this position is to create value added focus and expertise that results in profitable sales growth in the DR&OS category. The nature of this work requires the DROSA to spend at least 75% working in the field.


Accountabilities:

• Lead the way and achieve sales and margin goals for DR&OS for the branch o Expand and diversify the customer base o Launch, grow and expand DR&OS product offerings to be a complete source for the customers

• Work with managers to create and execute short and long-term sales plans that are measurable and have a clear objective Including market analysis and sales strategy development

• Make face-to-face sales calls with a customer serving mindset employing principles of the STEPS program

• Perform hands-on product knowledge and value proposition training for associates and customers

• Provide Sales Support and product expertise to customers as well as associates

• Develop relationships with and enlist the help of additional internal and external resources when needed


Manufactures and Distributors Responsibilities:


• Use STEPS training program to create value for associates and customers

o The DROSA must become a STEPS program expert with the ability to lead and train associates using the program

• Conduct on-the-job training with coworkers, provide value which is customer-serving

• Build long-lasting business relationships and sell products

• Ensures teammates are aware of all available sales tools and resources

• If opportunities arise to sell non-DR&OS products such as fencing arise, facilitate sales and or hand off to the appropriate salesperson CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION Essential Qualifications:

• Excellent face-to-face sales, training, and presentation skills with both small and large groups

• Driven and results-oriented

• Ability to support sales teams in new product expansion to meet company targets

• Ability to work with all levels of personnel within the organization

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.

• Creative problem solver with hands on engagement and solid business acumen

• Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively motivate and support the sales team

• Effective strategic thinking and tactical execution

• Strong organizational skills

• Ability to manage problems into solutions

• Creative as well as critical thinking

• Soft skills include organization, strong communication skills, leadership, time management, and multi-tasking


Required Education and Experience:


• Sales, Sales Leadership, Sales Training

• Related industry experience preferred


Work Environment: Office setting and field travel Physical Demands: This job requires the ability to sit, climb, stand, lift and/or move. Must be able to travel as needed. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday. This position at times requires long hours. Travel: Overnight Travel is dependent on assigned territory.
