You are an experienced Cost Controller - Infrastructure with a 5 - 7 years post-graduate experience looking for the next step or are currently undertaking a similar role in a similar environment.
The Cost Consultant (Controls) day-to-day responsibilities include:

Who are you?
You are an experienced Cost Controller - Infrastructure with a 5 - 7 years post-graduate experience looking for the next step or are currently undertaking a similar role in a similar environment.
The Cost Consultant (Controls) day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Supporting project managers in all elements of project controls including forecasting, scheduling, change management and risk management. The Senior Consultant does this through advising the project managers on utilizing controls tools within Project Governance Framework and through Project Management Software, and reviewing the outputs they produce.
- Leading development of new Controls tools or Project Management Software functionality to support Project Controls.
- Reviewing month end reporting data with the delivery teams and identifying priority projects to be reported up to the leadership team.
- Reporting to the Finance Department on portfolio financial variances, the pipeline for project financial closure, potential project write-offs and providing status updates on projects of interest when requested.
- Reviewing contract changes prior to their execution in the financial system.
- Developing content for the Project Governance Framework relating to Project Controls.
- Supporting Project Managers in transferring capital project costs to assets and the financial closure of projects.
- Providing training on new Controls tools and/or Project Management Software functionality
- Reviewing all procurement sourcing strategies for the portfolio, making recommendations on prequalified suppliers to invite to bid, and validating that the procurement approach meets governance requirements.
- Supporting Project Managers in developing their sourcing strategies through discussing routes to market, delivery models and contract options.
- Reviewing pre-tender requests prior to projects going out to tender to confirm budget is available and that the cost information has the appropriate breakdown for entry into the financial system.
Working as a team and effectively engaging different stakeholders is essential to carrying out the Senior Consultant role.
- Understand different stakeholder and team member priorities and adapt how we support them accordingly
- Prioritize tasks when there is a high volume of varied activities
- Embrace change and continuous improvement, and be a champion of change
- Demonstrate an ability to work both independently and as a team
- Membership of Relevant Professional Organizations such as the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS); The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS); and/or Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working for a large Infrastructure client
- A recognized University Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field
