Corporate Controller LendSuite , a part of Aquila Full Time | Permanent | Remote

We are looking for a Corporate Controller who will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the LendSuite Portfolio which currently comprises of three different business units. Reporting directly into the LendSuite Portfolio Manager, the Corporate Controller will be responsible for forecasting/budgeting, financial reporting, guiding strategic decision-making, and assisting in the integration of newly acquired businesses.

A successful candidate will join the management team to help make key operating decisions and should be highly analytical, very motivated, and be able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve portfolio goals. The role will also be heavily involved with the month end and quarter end close processes and help to manage the portfolio’s adherence to both internal and external deadlines and deliverables.

Responsibilities

As a key member of the portfolio finance team, you will be primarily responsible for the following:

• Assist with M&A which includes financial modelling review and post-close integration support.
• Assist with ad hoc projects including analytical reviews; variance analysis; system implementations, and various other initiatives focused on driving growth.
• Present financial reports and analysis to the executive team, offering recommendations for improvement.
• Collaborate with various stakeholders through the forecasting process, including quarterly revisions to the annual and long-term financial plans.
• Prepare financial models on various operational scenarios to provide insights and recommendations to support strategic planning.
• Coordinate with Aquila Head Office Finance team during quarterly and annual financial closes: perform analytical review; ensure financial accuracy; assist with treasury management; provide disclosure requirements; and help with technical accounting topics (as needed).
• Oversee and review the monthly and quarterly accounting cycles – including financial accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, month end analysis, to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results.
• Lead and mentor a team of financial analysts, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment to support their professional growth.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience at a public accounting firm (Big 4 experience preferred).
• In-depth knowledge of accounting policies, practices, and applications under IFRS.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Experience with software revenue recognition, SaaS financial metrics, and/or Great Plains accounting software an asset.
• Fluency in French and/or Spanish an asset.
• Ability to enter a new environment and understand the business and accounting dynamic with minimal guidance.
• Strong administrative and organizational skills with the ability to adjust and respond professionally to changing priorities and ad-hoc issues.
• Strong leadership abilities, with experience leading and developing finance teams.
• Ability to effectively communicate with staff and senior management, locally and abroad.
• 2+ years of experience as a Corporate Controller or similar role in the software/technology industry.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. CPA designation required.
• Willingness to travel, within GTA and internationally, approximately 10% of the year (contingent on government mandated travel restrictions).
