Summary:
This is an exciting time to join a growing privately-owned organization! We are looking for a talented professional who is looking to be a part of a dynamic team environment and wants to contribute to developing and building a smooth-functioning eco-system across all aspects of Finance (accounting, financial reporting, financial planning & analysis, taxation, treasury, risk management, governance, audit, compliance, internal controls & processes, and system administration).
Responsibilities:
Full cycle accounting and tax support (45%)
- Compile year end financial statements for JV legal entities
- Prepare annual income tax working papers for assigned Corporate legal entities
- Maintain income tax instalment tracker and prepare monthly instalment submissions to CRA
- Prepare period end Management Co fee revenue calculations and organize cross-department fee invoicing & collections through intercompany
- Support overall and group-level period end Consolidation of Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flows
- Prepare period end bank reconciliations for all Corporate accounts
- Perform ongoing maintenance to reconcile and clear intercompany receivable/payable balances across company books
- Perform period end Balance Sheet reconciliations for Management Co, other Corporate and Elimination books
- Accurately prepare and ensure submission of monthly HST filings on time
- Responsible for accounting, record keeping, and period close of Management Co (Development & Corporate), other Corporate, JV development, and Elimination books
Financial reporting and reforecasting (15%)
- Prepare quarterly 12-month full year reforecast for Management Co (Development & Corporate)and other Corporate entities based off of reforecast assumptions
- Support quarterly reforecast of income tax instalments by updating schedules for revised income estimates, payments made, and CRA balance
- Support overall and group-level period end financial reporting process, including preparation of financial reporting for Management Co and others as assigned, and preparation of monthly JV property report to shareholders
- Support quarterly reforecast for JV land and home development by updating schedules for lot sales & closings, VTB originations & discharges, loan facility status, and others
- Work collaboratively with team leads (Development & Corporate) to develop their Management Co department quarterly reforecast assumption inputs
Annual Planning & Budgets (20%)
- Prepare 5-year annual budgets of Management Co (Development & Corporate), Consolidated Management Co, and other Corporate entities based off of budget assumption
- Work collaboratively with team leads to develop their Management Co department budget assumption inputs
- Support overall Consolidation process, including updating schedules and compiling reports
Administrative and Banking support (20%)
- Perform ongoing PO/Invoice administration for the Development operating group
- Input bi-weekly Corporate & Development EFT and wire payments into CIBC CMO for Executive approval
- Support implementation of Finance policies, processes and procedures. This includes drafting of policy references, documenting work flow & procedures, improvement updates to Excel templates, and others
- Prepare period end cash position reports and other banking-related schedules as required
- Ensure accurate and timely payment of financing, preferred return, and Owner’s distributions to latest payment schedule
- Prepare bi-weekly Corporate & Development EFT support package for Executive approval
