Job Description

COORDINATOR, ADVANCEMENT AND COMMUNICATIONS


Reporting to the Senior Manager, Communications & Events, the Coordinator, Advancement and Communications, helps to create and execute annual giving tactics, supports special events, helps execute the Club’s marketing and communications efforts through its website and social media channels, and provides administrative support to the Advancement Team.


YOUR IMPACT

The Advancement and Communications Coordinator will be passionate about community giving and storytelling. They are an enthusiastic self-starter who must be comfortable with maintaining client and donor relations, as well as advanced writing, design, and clerical tasks. Our ideal candidate is flexible, curious, and open to learning.


ADVANCEMENT AND STEWARDSHIP – 35%

·Works closely with the Major Gifts team in identifying, researching, and cultivating prospects for increased annual funds and major gift giving.

·Provides administrative support for direct mail, direct response, and monthly giving to help meet the fundraising objectives of the Club.

·Stewardship activities, including callingnew and monthly donors, sending out welcome packages, and offering tours to help retain donors.

·Assists with reporting on donor database, special events, donor recognition and stewardship.

·Handles all incoming calls for donations and in-kind gifts.

·Aids in planning of BGC Ottawa marquee events.

·Other duties as assigned by the Chief Advancement Officer, Senior Manager, Communications and Events and Major Gifts Team.


CONTENT CREATION & STORYTELLING – 30%

·With guidance and support from the Senior Manager, Communications and Events, create and execute a content calendar for all digital properties.

·Develop original content (text, images, and videos) for BGC Ottawa’s website, the Club’s social media channels, e-newsletter, and other digital marketing tools.

·Design posts to sustain reader’s curiosity and create buzz around the Club.

·Through storytelling and content creation, highlight the Club’s programs, day-to-day operations, Member and staff stories, as well as strategic priorities.

·Stay up to date with changes in all social platforms ensuring maximum effectiveness.

·Produce reports on the Club’s social media accounts, website and other online fundraising and engagement strategies.


COMMUNICATIONS & REPORTING – 20%

·Take direction from Senior Leadership Team, Senior Managers and Clubhouse Managers to ensure information from all locations is current and accurate on the website.

·Monitor site traffic and sources to optimize web presence and Search Engine Optimization habits.

·Assist in the execution of marketing and communications campaigns (internal and external) working collaboratively with the Advancement Team, BGCO staff and volunteers.

·Provide writing and editing support.


EVENT SUPPORT – 15%

·Execute social media campaigns for the Club’s major events that satisfy all sponsor obligations.

·Provide administrative support to the Advancement and Events Team.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

·Post-secondary education in marketing, fundraising, communications, or a related field.

·One to two years of previous experience in a charity or non-for-profit agency, ideally with Annual Fund knowledge.

·Advanced English communications skills, including excellent writing and editing. Multilingualism is considered an asset.

·Demonstrated administrative competencies.

·A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

·Current Police Record Check (vulnerable sector).


YOUR SKILLS

·Attention to detail with the ability to be clear, concise, and accurate.

·Proven ability to recognize diversity of abilities and adopt content, tone, medium and style to audience, to be inclusive.

·Experience in content development, storytelling, and social media communication.

·Proficient in Microsoft Office, Canva and content management and email marketing software, in addition to donor or similar databases.

·Strong organizational, problem solving and project management skills.

·Ability to work independently, handle multiple priorities, and respond to deadlines.

·Strong team player who works collaboratively with many different stakeholders.

·Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills, and experience serving diverse communities.
