Job Description

We are looking for a Community and Events Manager to join our team. As a key member of the lean and mighty marketing team at Kritik, you will play a vital role in owning and implementing the overall events and community activities based on our Objectives and Key Results. If you are passionate about being the voice of Kritik, have the appetite to work in a fast-paced startup environment, are driven by bottom-line results, and are eager to be part of an exciting Go-To-Market journey, we want you on our team!

This role involves two key responsibilities to generate top-of-funnel leads and contribute to new revenue goals:

  1. Managing and scaling virtual events - workshops, conferences, social lives.
  2. Networking within the Higher Education community with demand generation objectives

Kritik is the fastest-growing Education Tech company in Canada. We're on a mission to build a powerful assessment and content creation engine, which enables learning through collaboration and critique. We grew revenue from 0 to over $1M in less than 2 years, and recently raised $3M. We aim to grow 5-10X next year before we raise a Series A, as we continue to expand usage of our platform, which is currently being used in 120+ institutions and 50K students including Cornell, Princeton and Columbia.

What you'll do:

  • Responsible for facilitating and supporting Kritik Users to become advocates by presenting their use cases and research papers at regional and institution-specific conferences.
  • Responsible for planning and managing participation and exhibits at Higher Education conferences including pre-during-post event activities - outreach to schedule meetings, social media buzz, networking, merchandising, exhibit booth branding, planning thought-leadership sessions with guest speakers/panelists, post-event follow-up nurtures, etc, with lead generative objectives.
  • Work with the Director of Marketing and Content Marketing Manager to develop the overall event marketing strategy, and thought-leadership campaigns, and own the execution with a results-driven mindset.
  • Responsible for building co-marketing opportunities through partnerships with Higher Education focused organizations. Including organizing co-hosted lead-generation virtual events, and circulation of thought leadership content through their communications.
  • Responsible for actively participating in trending discussions in Higher Education, creating opportunities for thought leadership discussions with external subject matter experts through various forms of content with the objective of positioning Kritik as a thought leader in the Higher Education space.
  • Have a data-driven approach to measuring the success of marketing campaigns, constantly iterating based on newly gathered data, and evaluating the effectiveness of campaigns based on the bottom-of-the-funnel results (revenue) and its impact on business growth.
  • Responsible for organizing and facilitating ongoing series of virtual workshops with Kritik Users (faculty and institutional decision-makers) and subject matter experts, social media lives, podcasts and an annual Kritik symposium with lead generation objectives.
  • Responsible for developing Kritik’s social media accounts, increasing following and engagement with the target audience, with the objective of generating top-of-funnel leads and building awareness among the higher education community.

Who you are:

  • Innovative, curious, creative, and constantly looking for ways to optimize the way you work to maximize impact and outcomes.
  • A growth mindset.
  • Collaborative, self-motivated, agile, open to receiving critical feedback, adjusting, and applying it to projects effectively.
  • Organized - Collect information, ideas, content, and project planning to make them accessible for others to locate and reference.
  • Experience with social media marketing is a plus
  • Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree specialization in Marketing, Business, Communications, Instructional Design, Education, or a related field.
  • Strong presentation skills, a people person, comfortable with facilitating live organic discussions with subject matter experts, and thinking on your feet to keep a live audience engaged.
  • 2+ years experience in planning, marketing and executing virtual webinars/workshops and managing exhibits/sponsorships at trade shows and industry events (required)
  • A team player and influencer. You have ideas, and you love to share them.
  • Comfortable with a rapidly changing environment with numerous stakeholders.
  • Experience with Instructional Design, Education Technology, and knowledge of pedagogy.
  • Understand how your audience and customers think and are determined to know how to serve them best.

What's in it for you?

  • Competitive Compensation plan.
  • Full Health and Dental coverage.
  • Opportunity to build your team from the ground up!
  • We take professional development seriously. We put strong training and coaching programs in place to help you level-up skills and provide clear personalized paths for career progression. Given the stage and fast growth of Kritik, the opportunities to grow here happen early and often.
  • No micromanaging here! We believe in our employees' skills and abilities, we encourage you to bring new innovative ideas to your team.
  • Generous stock option plan - we want you to own part of what you build!
  • We want you to add value to our outstanding company culture which is built around honesty, transparency, and creativity.
  • Late or early riser? We understand! We offer flexible working hours that allow you to schedule your 8-hour day with a bit more flexibility.
