About The Opportunity


With responsibilities to help build and manage Ceridian’s public relations strategies, the Manager, External Communications will play a critical role within Ceridian’s high-performing external communications team.


Their primary role will be leading awareness efforts to support Ceridian product and technology innovation, including our flagship cloud platform, Dayforce, and industry-first payroll solution, Dayforce Wallet. The candidate must have proven external communications experience in technology/software, including developing and executing PR/media relations strategy for product launches and releases. The role will support the development of strategic communication messages to external stakeholders and deliver results-focused communications strategies and tactical plans. They will work closely with several internal business units to weave together consistent and impactful narratives that support the overarching brand's objectives. The individual who succeeds in this role will excel at managing and executing awareness-building strategies in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.


What You’ll Get To Do


  • Build awareness for Ceridian’s product and technologies across our global markets.
  • Lead the development of a strategic speakers' bureau, ensuring coordination with internal stakeholders. 
  • Drive communications strategies forward, from conception to execution, to support Ceridian’s innovation roadmap and award-winning products and solutions.
  • Write and oversee the creation of media materials, including press releases, key messages, spokesperson Q&A, media pitches, and bylined articles. 
  • Work collaboratively with Product Marketing, Employee Communications, Content Marketing, HR, P&T, Sales, and other departments to deliver effective public relations plans that support specific programs and overall business goals. 
  • Serve as a thought-leader, proactively generating thought leadership ideas, strategies, and tactics. 
  • Manage program measurement, budget tracking and planning processes. 
  • Drive communications best practices: content, approaches, and distribution vehicles.
  • Identify and assess issues management and corporate reputation risks to protect the Ceridian brand. 
  • Build and foster North American and international media relationships, including those with print, online and broadcast outlets. 
  • Provide support to senior executives and subject matter experts for media relations or public speaking opportunities.

Skills and experience we value


  • Bachelor’s degree (communications, journalism, English or business degree preferred); post-graduate certificate in corporate communications or public relations. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work well with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Exceptional talent for writing; solid communications skills (written and verbal).
  • Proven understanding of, and experience in, media relations. 
  • Minimum 6– 8 years in a corporate communications or agency environment, with strong business acumen. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours, as required, and travel on occasion.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced, cross-functional organization, exhibiting agility and adaptability to change.

The range provided is in Canadian Dollars.
