We are actively seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our team. In this role, you will have a critical function in driving operational effectiveness, formulating growth strategies, and steering overall business performance. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be responsible for the overall management and oversight of operations, finance, and strategic planning within the organization.
Responsibilities:
Strategy and Operations:
- Monitor key operational metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement strategies to enhance productivity and cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee the implementation and improvement of operational systems, tools, and procedures to support business operations and drive continuous improvement.
- Lead operational risk management, identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation measures.
- Build and lead high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, and setting clear expectations and performance metrics.
- Develop and implement comprehensive operational strategies, processes, and procedures that align with the company's growth objectives and optimize efficiency and scalability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align operational initiatives with business objectives, ensuring seamless project execution and coordination.
- Assist the CEO in operational aspects of board meetings, investor communications, and other strategic engagements, providing insights on operational strategies, achievements, and future plans.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, and industry standards in all operational activities.
- Manage relationships with payment processing partners, renegotiating terms, and exploring potential new partnerships to optimize payment processes and reduce costs.
Finance:
- Spearhead financial modeling and analysis to inform decision-making, including pricing, investments, and potential funding opportunities.
- Lead the financial strategy development and implementation to underpin the company's growth targets and secure its financial health.
- Maintain relationships with banking partners and aid in fundraising activities, including debt or equity financing.
- Prepare and present financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, to the executive team and stakeholders.
- Drive the financial planning and budgeting process, ensuring accurate forecasting, resource allocation, and cost control measures.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, pinpoint areas for improvement, and implement strategies to optimize profitability and cash flow.
- Support the CEO in preparing for board meetings, investor communications, and other high-level strategic discussions, offering critical financial insights and recommendations.
- Oversee financial risk management
- Oversee the search and application for available subsidies and grants, managing related compliance and reporting processes.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in financial management software and SaaS systems. Experience with SaaS metrics and reporting is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field. MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
- Outstanding leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams.
- Prior experience in an operations leadership role, preferably within a high-growth tech or software startup.
- Understanding of the startup environment and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and agile organization.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Profound knowledge of accounting principles and practices, with experience in financial reporting.
- Proven ability to develop and execute operational strategies, driving process improvements and organizational efficiency.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic mindset and attention to detail.
- Strong financial and business acumen, including experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
