Category Business Manager, Christmas Lights & Outdoor Decor

What You’ll Do

Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Backyard Living & Seasonal, the successful candidate will be accountable for delivering the financial plans of their merchandising categories through the development and execution of assortment, pricing and promotional plans.

• Develop, mentor, guide and coach Category Business Analyst by setting clear performance objectives and providing ongoing and timely feedback
• Set & deliver against categorical assortment plans and evolve to customer centric measures
• Act as the subject-matter expert for the fast-paced and highly seasonal Christmas Lights and Outdoor Decor portfolio
• Lead and influence large group of indirect cross functional team members
• Develop a broad categorical understanding of relative consumer trends, competitive & market analysis and CTR store executional nuances and requirements. Financial accountability for category through adherence to predefined CTR strategy objectives and guidelines
• Lead the in season management process with a focus on understanding the market, interpreting early sales results and pivoting as necessary
• Support assortment analysis and drive innovation and new program delivery, with a focus on Owned Brands
• Planning, execution & delivery of seasonal line review process including: approval of the assortment and pricing plans, import trip planning and execution, vendor relationship/negotiation and overseeing timeline delivery
• Ensuring adherence to CTR promotional and pricing strategies
• Define and execute against categorical promotional plans; including promotional item selection & offer to deliver against the plans and financial objectives

What You Bring

• Ability to travel 2 - 4 weeks per year
• Strong business acumen skills; demonstrated expertise of retail marketing, consumer trends and inventory management
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute business plans and initiatives that will achieve financial performance and operational targets
• Superior leadership skills and presence; highly developed sense of accountability, passion and track record for delivering results
• Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills; regularly influences and persuades key stakeholders
• Ability to work in a fast-paced highly seasonal environment
• Post-secondary education or equivalent experience
• 5-7 years in Category Management experience and/or progressive growth in a relevant cross functional role
• Absolute commitment to delivering consumer-focused initiatives; possess superior innovation management skills
• Strong people management skills with demonstrated ability to develop others
