*ASSISTANT CATEGORY SOURCING MANAGER*
Parian Logistics provides corporate shared support services and third-party logistics to a group of affiliated Canadian retailers, including Warehouse One, Ricki’s, Bootlegger, and cleo. Parian Logistics’ corporate support services include accounting and finance, logistics and distribution, sourcing, digital marketing, customer service, information technology, real estate and store construction services.
Parian Logistics is currently seeking an Assistant Category Sourcing Manager to join our team in Winnipeg. Reporting to the Senior Category Sourcing Manager, the Assistant Category Sourcing Manager manages the sourcing and production of all styles in their assigned category/portfolio across four supported banners (Ricki’s, Cleo, Bootlegger and Warehouse One) to achieve the best price, quality and on time delivery of goods through a best-in-class global vendor matrix and partnership with the buying teams in the banners and throughout the Parian Logistics Sourcing Team.

*What you’ll be a part of*
  • Working with the Sourcing Team to contribute actively to a common vision, cost efficiencies, vendor management, product innovations and industry best practices.
  • Working with the technical departments to ensure best construction and fit is accomplished by the vendors for sample development and in-production.
  • Utilizing technology to offer continuous improvement and efficiencies; making recommendations to improve procedures.
  • Working closely with the buying teams in each banner to consolidate common fabrics & styles where possible or where it makes commercial sense.
  • Using experience and knowledge of product, manufacturing processes and geographic advantages to get the best quality at the best price with the best timeline.
  • Supporting the sourcing team in vendor relationships/vendor scorecards and analysis, as well as mitigating country risk.
  • Resolving any operational and/or post shipment disputes efficiently and professionally.
  • Researching new product, speed and cost requirements from the buying team and delivers these for each banner and brings new innovations in product for the assigned category and shares with buying and trend team.
  • Managing the product development, costing, allocation and WIP/Time and Action management to ensure best cost and on time delivery for all styles in the assigned category for all four banners; conduct regular review meetings with the buying teams in each banner to review and escalate any delays and exceptions to the respective Buyers, GMM and the VP Sourcing to avoid any delays.
  • Keeping the quality, value, innovation, and end customer top of mind; champions the mindset that all teams are to serve that end customer to the best of their ability.
  • Embodies and champions a service attitude within the Sourcing Team; strives to service the buying teams’ requests to support their respective banners to grow in revenue and profit.
  • Troubleshooting factory related issues with regards to using and managing any nominated fabric to resolve delivery, payment terms or quality issues.
  • Ensuring fair and consistent application of discounts and chargebacks to the vendors and if needed mediate with the quality team, the banner buying teams and the vendors in those conversations.
  • Presenting the company in a positive light to all vendors so that the company can always have the choice to work with multiple “best in class” vendors.
  • Ensuring that the highest IMU is achieved without compromising product in terms of style, quality, or lead time; maintaining open and clear records of costs in the open cost format.
  • Leveraging fabric and trims to make sure only the best quality and priced fabric is being used by the factories for the category’s products.
  • Reviewing and managing the capacity of vendors and adjusting style allocations accordingly.
  • Maintaining strategic sourcing relationships and developing strong partnerships.
*What you bring*
  • Knowledge of international trade policies and practices in apparel, export/import, financial terms, and the global sourcing landscape of the assigned category with an in-depth understanding of the strength, weakness, opportunities and threats of each country of origin
  • Advanced ability to collaborate and work with cross functional teams
  • Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking abilities
  • Experience in a specialty store organization would be an asset
  • Strong ability to negotiate and sustain networking relationships
  • Experience in researching, on-boarding, and managing overseas factories for development and production of apparel merchandise
  • Five or more years of previous experience (or combined with post-secondary education) in apparel sourcing, production, and international sourcing
  • Superb leadership and communication skills
