We're looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst II to support our Data Analytics team in Edmonton.


As a Business Intelligence Analyst II you are responsible for interacting with all levels of the organization and serve a key role within the organization to leverage analytics services to meet business needs and objectives. You work closely with all stakeholders to define requirements, provide design and time estimates to support prioritization of enhancements that align with corporate objectives.


You demonstrate a working knowledge and skill set to allow for contribution and success of the team. In this role you will show progressive growth within the domain and at the highest level be able to demonstrate exemplary BI Development skills to the team and take a leadership role on initiatives.


More specifically, the scope of your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:


  • Works on highly complex requests and cross-functional business solutions
  • Research business problems and assists in the creation of highly complex data models
  • Maintains and administrates reporting platforms
  • Helping define and implement analytics best practices required to support the strategy and roadmap of business stakeholders
  • Able to lead or provide direction for the planning, designing, and execution of user test plans and provide support to testing teams
  • Create and design standard reporting and data visualizations
  • Able to analyze, design, develop, modify, test, document and implement very complex requests for the services that the team provides
  • Engaging stakeholders in negotiating priorities and timelines that support the strategic and tactical objectives of the organization


Requirements


To qualify, you'll need at least the following:


  • Experience working within an Agile delivery methodology
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills while delivering solutions for highly complex problems
  • Experience in developing, documenting, communicating, and enforcing reporting standards and best practices
  • Demonstrated experience using creative techniques in data visualization and storytelling
  • Post-secondary education in computer science or related discipline from an accredited institution
  • Skilled in developing and presenting business and/or operational impact assessment. Can communicate potential solutions and information as required
  • 2+ years' experience in a team leadership role
  • Hands-on design and development experience using SQL, SQL Server, SSAS, SSRS, SSIS, Power BI, and ETL
  • Hands-on experience in unit testing, compliance testing, system integration testing, volume/stress testing, and user acceptance testing
  • 3+ years' experience in a Business Intelligence development role
  • Experienced in design of reusable components that can be leveraged across the team
  • 2+ years' experience with Power BI
  • Experience in data modeling
  • Possess strong active listening and needs analysis skills


Although not required, the following experience and education/certifications are valuable assets:


  • BI Certification
  • Financial Institution experience
