THE OPPORTUNITY:
The WAA is seeking thoughtful, engaged and vigorous individuals to contribute to the continued development of the airport campus as a significant inland port and transportation hub. These remunerated Director appointments present an opportunity to join a group of influential and conscientious community leaders who have been providing effective governance, guidance and fiduciary oversight to WAA since 1997. The Board is recruiting directors with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives to reflect a complex, growing and evolving Manitoba community. EXPECTATIONS
- Attend approximately eight scheduled board meetings per year, including the AGM.
- Participate in discussions on policy, governance, business and/or risk management.
- Serve on at least one board committee and meet as required.
- Prepare for meetings, review board material, and actively engage in discussion, debate, and Board resolutions.
SELECTION CRITERIA (Pursuing Candidates with a Variety of Profiles and Backgrounds)
- Exceptional collaboration and relationship-building skills.
- Respected, credible and influential voice and in the community, with an established network and track record of building relationships and engagement with community leaders and organizations.
- Professional experience in various disciplines, including, but not limited to, information technology, human resources, engineering, law, or law.
- Ability to provide financial, business, people, process, risk management and/or strategic insights.
- Board Director and policy governance experience.
- Growth-minded perspective with the ability to encourage innovative and visionary approach to transportation and commerce.
- People with broad and varied experiences – private industry, public sector, and/or non-profit, and/or rural and northern communities.
- Values-driven, progressive, community-minded individuals with commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, reconciliation, safety, security and ESG principles.
- Expertise in related and complementary sectors to WAA, e.g., logistics, aviation, construction, transportation, environment, community planning, and economic development.
