Job Description

Looking for a way to get involved, make an impact, and share your knowledge? The Amici Chamber Ensemble is expanding the BOARD OF DIRECTORS by looking for new committed BOARD members to serve on our organization's governing body.


The BOARDOF DIRECTORS is responsible for articulating and supporting the mission, goals and strategic plan of the organization. The BOARD is responsible for ensuring that there are sufficient resources for the planned activities of the ensemble.To be a successful contributor as a BOARD Member, you should have a passion for Amici’s music, its mission, and an interest in promoting Amici to an even wider community.

BOARD Member Responsibilities:

  • Promote & support Amici; subscribe to and promote concert season, gala and fundraising activities.
  • Contributing to the development of policies and strategic plans and ensuring that the organization complies with legal requirements.
  • Regularly attending and actively participating in BOARD meetings. Preparing for meetings by reviewing the agenda and supporting documentation. Knowing the organization's mission, programs, policies, and needs.
  • Understanding the organization's financial affairs and ensuring fiduciary responsibilities are met. Review and approve audit reports, budgets, and business decisions.
  • Participating in the evaluation of BOARD functions, business operations and executives.
  • Establish a strategic and operational plan that provides a framework for the ensemble.

Artistic Directors clarinetist Joaquin Valdepeñas, cellist David Hetherington and pianist Serouj Kradjian invite some of the world’s finest musicians to join them in innovative and eclectic programming, celebrating friendship through music. Amici's mission is to perform the world's finest chamber music, with its most accomplished musicians, while delivering innovating programming by:

  1. Performing and programming innovative repertoire and collaborating with both top-tier Canadian and internationally renowned musicians, and other diverse artistic disciplines.
  2. Maintaining and developing the Ensemble's important role in broadening Canada's music library by regularly commissioning new works, adding to over twenty commissions to date.
  3. Offering performances and recordings that cover a broad range of traditional and contemporary works. This includes commissioned works by Canadian composers. With innovation as a permanent keystone, we introduce our audience to lesser-known works through accessible presentation and collaborations.
  4. Ensuring the future of chamber music in Canada by engaging, collaborating with, and teaching Canada's emerging musicians, both performers and composers.
