About The Role


Reporting to the Senior Manager, Total Rewards, the Benefits Lead will lead and oversee the benefits function as well as support the Total Rewards team with work in the compensation and payroll spaces. This role plays an integral part in designing, building, and administering benefits programs and systems that are scalable to support our growth.


In this role you’ll have the opportunity to:


  • Work closely with the Senior Manager, Total Rewards on total rewards analysis and other people-focused data analysis projects
  • Oversee the design and delivery of our benefits and perks programs in both US and Canada, including group RRSPs, 401(K) plans and disability programs
  • Work with the systems team and third-party providers to ensure employee coverage is accurate and consistent across platforms
  • Find creative and innovative ways to reward our employees beyond traditional benefits and perks
  • Manage and negotiate with brokers and third-party solution providers to continue innovating and delivering value to our employees
  • Provide education and training to the People Ops team, people managers, and employees on benefits and related total rewards programs
  • Partner closely with the payroll and systems team to ensure benefits are set up properly in Workday and other systems and deductions are applied correctly and updated as necessary
We’re looking for someone who brings:


  • Strong Communication: Able to communicate complex ideas in a simple & easy-to-understand way for any audience
  • Creativity: comfortable with thinking outside of the box and being open to new ideas
  • Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work in collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders and teams
  • Benefits Experience: Proven and recurring success and experience designing and managing benefits programs in Canada and/or the US. Experience in tech is a plus.
  • Organization & Planning: Independently plans, organizes, and budgets proactively, focusing on key priorities and adapting when required
  • Results Driven: Wealthsimple is a data-driven organization and you feel comfortable using and manipulating data to drive insights that help drive tangible team results
  • Data & Analytics: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Understanding financial metrics is an asset
  • Compensation Experience: Experience in compensation/total rewards would be an asset.
  • Attention to Detail: You sweat the details. You know what top-tier performance looks like because you have been a top-tier performer and you know how to find the details that help your colleagues take performance to the next level
