Addictions Counsellor (Virtual) Jobs

About The Position

Reporting to the Manager of Virtual Intensive Treatment Program, the VITP Counsellor is accountable for the program delivery and supporting clients attending the Virtual Intensive Treatment Program stream.

Key Responsibilities

The position includes, but is not limited to the following:

• Implements systematic, ongoing goal setting with clients which includes specific planning and establishment of

• Makes necessary referrals regarding any other services required by clients, in consultation with the Counselling Team.
• Works with clients to encourage them to develop or restore their natural support system.
• Ensures continuity of care of clients through a continuous process of follow-up, coordination of referrals, and

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills both oral and written are essential, including an ability to share life experience for
• Lived experience of addiction and recovery and active involvement in a 12-Step program for alcoholism/addiction required.
• A minimum of three years of continuous sobriety is preferred.

• University degree or College diploma in one of the social sciences or a health-related discipline, or the

equivalent in work experience.

• Completion of course-work for certification as an Addiction Counsellor is required.
