Broad knowledge of bio-psycho-social-spiritual issues that may occur in response to changing health and alcohol and/or other drug needs.

Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication.

Demonstrated ability to work as part of an integrated team of mental health and substance use specialists, clinical supervisors, and managers.

Demonstrated organizational, time management and coordination skills.

Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with the DSM 5 diagnostic classification system.

Previous experience in a combination of the following considered an asset; child welfare; addictions.

Demonstrated knowledge in family care and trauma-informed care required.

Provides supportive counselling, demonstrations, behavioural management to assist with the development of physical, social, emotional and life skills.

Knowledge of the Mental Health Act as it applies to the rights and obligations of clients and staff.

Knowledge of psychiatric medications and their side effects.

Works as part of a multidisciplinary team with individuals with severe and persistent psychiatric illness.

Demonstrated experience in case management and community liaison.

Minimum two (2) years post masters clinical experience working in child and adolescent mental health services required.

Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification (NVCI).

Demonstrated experience in individual/family therapy.

Demonstrated experience in delivery of evidence based group interventions.

Documents and reports cases for clinical and administrative case management.

Facilitates daytox program modules to enhance relapse prevention skills and recovery efforts.

Provides community education and/or consultation to other agencies providing services.

Ability to identify own experiences and values in relation to the counselling role.

Motivates and assists clients in developing and reaching treatment goals.

Contributes to team building and program and policy development by participating in regular team meetings and peer review process.

Knowledge of counselling and group facilitation skills.

Knowledge of mental illness and substance use treatment.

Knowledge of psychopharmacology (indications and side-effects).

Knowledge of legislation and government policies and procedures that relate to mental health and substance use practices.

One (1) year experience in interventions with pre-school aged children required. Specific experience with young children with ASD preferred.

Excellent interpersonal skills working with multi-level health provider disciplines

First Aid and CPR certification and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention an asset

Demonstrated ability to be an effective change agent with good team building skills
