Job Description
Job Overview/Purpose:
This position is an opportunity to grow the Rabobank market presence through supporting Canadian producers with financing solutions. This position will be expected to help build the business from the ground up, while leveraging existing Rabobank business expertise.
Responsible for the business development and customer management in an assigned area or market segment. Provide agricultural lending services to progressive and growth minded producers. This role will require experience with large, complex customers, including syndications lending experience.
The successful candidate will support customers through evaluating customer’s needs. The candidate will further assess customer’s eligibility and suitability for Rabobank products, and negotiate acceptable credit solutions to support our customers growth.. This role will require working with multiple person deal teams, and Sr. Relationship Analysts to assure accurate presentation of the customer request. Strong credit expertise, including understanding credit policy and structure will be required. Strong inter-bank communication will be required, to help support complex club and syndication financing structures.
Specialization in an industry segment will be a strong benefit. This role will actively work with Regional and Senior management in identifying strategic growth opportunities for Rabobank.
This Relationship Manager will be responsible for supporting clients in the Manitoba area. This employee will have the flexibility to work remotely but is expected to reside within their clients' region.
Such responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Provide customers value added solutions, leveraging a “kitchen table” approach to financing partnerships. Regular customer contact to demonstrate Rabobank services which the customer can leverage to increase their operations efficiency and profitability.
  • Coordinate deal teams composed of department specialists throughout the organization in assisting the structuring, approval, closing and servicing of these large customers
  • Being the primary contact for the origination, and servicing of agricultural loans of customers of all sizes. Primarily target range is >$20M CAD in lending needs.
  • Must have experience with generating and managing club and syndicated lending structures
  • Position yourself with customers as a knowledge provider by bringing in the Rabo worldwide perspective on markets, using other Rabobank services, including leveraging RaboResearch to set Rabobank apart from other loan providers in the market.
  • Grow/maintain a portfolio of complex financing of primary producers and agri-business
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
MARKETING GOALS
The Senior RM will be assigned a portfolio of customers to manage their relationship with Rabobank and monitor the customer goals and needs to expand each relationship in a profitable manner. The Senor RM will have annual goals with the overriding goal to grow his portfolio and bottom line profit annually. Responsible for identifying marketing opportunities within your assigned territory to grow the Rabobank brand and enhance the image of Worldwide Food and Agribusiness Research to deliver Local Farm Financial Solutions.
LOAN PORTFOLIO GROWTH
Target the top 25% of agricultural producers to provide Rabobank solutions to their farm financial needs. Use Rabobank products and services to create solutions for potential customers. Identify customer needs and sell solutions). Responsible to identify profitable potential large, complex customers who are sustainable/growing and the risk profile of the customer is acceptable to Rabobank. This role will specifically target club and syndication structures.
NETWORK DEVELOPMENT
To grow your portfolio requires direct contact with existing customers to gain new client referrals. The Sr. RM is expected to develop new customer referrals by building relationships with appraisers, attorneys, CPA’s, ag retailers, product buyers, bankers, realtors and educators. This includes Rabobank brand building by attending top producer trade shows, farm visits, ag-related seminars, local public events and other ag-related events to promote Rabobank effectively.
MARKETING PROGRAM
Senior RM will develop a target list of potential customers in the assigned area which will be contacted on a regular basis. Maintain the customer relationship management (CRM) documentation on prospects, inquiries, direct mail contacts, referrals, and clients to assist in marketing and the overall Rabobank marketing efforts.
CROSS-SELL SERVICES
The Senior RM is expected to target existing customers for expansion of Rabobank services. The more Rabobank services and products a customer utilizes the better chance of customer retention. The Senior RM will have annual goals increase the average products utilized per customer in his portfolio.
MARKETS GROUP
SRM is responsible for have active knowledge of financial derivatives, and relationship development in large, complex deals.
OTHER DUTIES: Actively mentors Financial Analyst’s in customer relationship building. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Must be familiar with syndication and club structures, and comply with laws, and regulations.
Understands and complies with Rabobank anti-money laundering, compliance, and all internal policies and procedures that are applicable to required job duties.
Job Skills and Knowledge:
Essential:
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret risk in appraisals, financial statements, crop insurance reports, and other customer data.
  • Successfully completed advanced relationship sales and marketing course as identified by Rabobank or equivalent testing or experience.
  • Successfully completed advanced credit/risk structuring course, or equivalent as identified by Rabobank.
  • Excellent communication skills required. Must be able to manage cross organizational relationships and have completed managing priorities and relationship training course.
  • Team Leader Designation: Ability to manage and motivate others.
  • Experience in loan documentation including the perfection of liens and mortgages on real estate, crops, inventory, machinery and real property throughout Rabobank’s operating range. As shown by passage of Rabobank 360 modules and courses assigned by Training department in your Individual Development Plan.
  • Ability to communicate, market and sell Rabobank products. As shown by passage of Rabobank or External marketing courses or equivalent testing.
Qualifications:
Essential:
  • Computer proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, with Masters preferred, with 10 or more years of similar experience
  • Must have experience with large, complex syndication and club transactions
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented and have a strong desire to succeed.
  • Must possess good human relations, communication skills and ability to exercise good judgment and work as a team member.
  • Must be able to work well under time constraints.
  • Must have strong financial background
  • Must have extensive knowledge of all agricultural industry segments in geographic territory
