Systems Communications Test Specialist

Aversan Inc. (www.aversan.com ) is a reputable Engineering Company that provides expertise in the Aerospace and Defense industry. We are currently seeking a qualified Systems Communications Test Specialist for a Direct hire for a client based in Montreal, Quebec, An international space mission partner and a robotics, satellite systems and geo-intelligence pioneer with a 50-year story of firsts on and above the Earth.

As part of this Satellite Space & Ground Segments Systems Integration, Verification and Validation team, you will play a key role in creating and delivering engineering solutions to verify and validate payloads & satellites performance, Telecommand and Telemetry, data processing imagery, create value-added products and process orders from our customers in a cost-effective way.

Role can also include proposal and program efforts, front-end design, detailed analyses, and development, digital channelize and on-board processing design Test Requirements/Plans, evaluation of Payload throughput and link budgets for multi-beam systems, integration and testing of the product.

Responsibilities

• Conducting formal factory and on-site verification activities using formal test procedures;
• Traveling to other locations and customer sites to participate in IV&V activities, as required by the project.
• As an Integration, Verification and Validation Engineer – Satellite Space & Ground Segments, you will have a wide range of responsibilities that may include:
• Analyzing system and subsystem-level verification events
• Support design reviews
• Recommending overall system improvements (robustness, congestion, usability, performance);
• Reporting and documenting software and system issues encountered during IV&V activities;
• Deploying and configuring hardware and software subsystems in support of factory and on-site integration, verification and validation (IV&V) activities;
• Defining and developing scenarios and Use Cases to test subsystem-to-subsystem interfaces and end-to-end (i.e. multi-subsystem) flows;
• Interacting and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders (customer, QA, System Design engineers and managers);
• Working with software development teams to integrate and test operational features; and
• You will provide direction and guidance to other engineers in the above tasks and have opportunities for career growth.
• Creating test data, scripts, tools and procedures to support IV&V activities, including manual and automated test procedures for formal requirement verification;

Required Experience

• Python, Linux, or a similar scripting language;
• Have familiarity with:
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills; English required, French fluency would be an asset;
• Knowledge of the Architectures and operation of SDR (Software Defined Radio);
• English required, French is an asset
• Experience in digital equipment, Modems, signal processing and Networking (i.e. DTN, MPLS, routing protocols & Class of Service, DVB-RC/SX);
• Possess excellent problem-solving skills;
• Understanding of different types of engineering life cycles as applicable from large complex programs to software development;
• Familiarity with orbital mechanics, satellite communications, remote sensing or earth observation, spacecraft design and operational considerations;
• Matlab;
• Be a self-starter with the ability to perform in a dynamic working environment and willingness to learn;
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Information Technology or other relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
• Familiarity with modern software development methodology, tools, and software specification;
• User of Lab instruments: PNA, VSA, PSA, Oscilloscope….
• Prior involvement in developing test or simulation scripts/tools, integrating multiple systems and/or verifying system requirements;

• Been in the country for 5 years
• Canadian Citizen or Permanent resident
