Position Overview:
As the Senior Manager of Global Supply Chain, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing and overseeing the end-to-end supply chain operations to ensure the efficient and cost-effective sourcing, procurement, and distribution of materials, equipment, and services essential for our mining operations across the globe. Your expertise will be critical in maintaining our commitment to sustainability, safety, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Manage and develop a diverse supply chain team, providing guidance, mentorship, and growth opportunities. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Logistics and Distribution: Oversee the planning and execution of efficient transportation, distribution, and inventory management processes. Ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment to various mining sites while minimizing transportation costs and lead times.
- Risk Management: Identify potential supply chain disruptions and develop contingency plans to minimize their impact on operations. Implement strategies to mitigate risks related to geopolitical, regulatory, and market factors.
- Sustainability and Compliance: Champion sustainable and ethical supply chain practices, promoting environmentally responsible sourcing, reducing carbon footprint, and adhering to industry regulations and standards.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Foster strong partnerships with suppliers, ensuring clear communication, performance evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate on innovation, sustainability, and responsible sourcing practices.
- Performance Metrics: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track supply chain performance. Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Sourcing and Procurement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish sourcing strategies for critical materials, equipment, and services. Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure consistent and timely procurement while adhering to quality standards.
- Demand Forecasting: Utilize market trends, historical data, and industry insights to develop accurate demand forecasts. Work closely with operational teams to align production schedules and procurement plans accordingly.
- Supply Chain Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive global supply chain strategy aligned with the company's goals and growth aspirations. Lead efforts to identify and capitalize on opportunities for supply chain optimization, risk mitigation, and cost reduction.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Strong understanding of sustainability practices and their application in supply chain operations.
- Problem-solving attitude with the ability to navigate complex and ambiguous situations.
- Excellent leadership skills with a track record of managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Proven ability to make strategic decisions and drive change within a dynamic business environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating across departments and cultures.
- Willingness to travel internationally as required.
- Demonstrated experience in negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost savings initiatives.
- Proven experience (8+ years) in global supply chain management within the mining, minerals, or heavy industry sectors.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of procurement, logistics, demand forecasting, and supplier management.
- Proficiency in supply chain management software, data analysis tools, and ERP systems.
