Senior Sourcing Manager Packaging

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Sourcing Manager, Packaging leads the North American Packaging Spend area and works collaboratively with various stakeholder groups across Canada and the US, including Packaging Technology, Operations, Quality, Finance and Marketing to create and implement strategic sourcing strategies, and productivity and innovation projects. You will provide procurement leadership, support and expertise in the areas of supplier negotiations and contract development for North America, as well as being an effective people leader and coach for a sourcing manager and buyer in the packaging spend areas. In addition to supporting functional initiatives from a procurement perspective, you will also act as project-leader for cost-savings initiatives on behalf of the organizations, targeting annual cost reduction.

Position Responsibilities:

• Partner with key cross functional partners and suppliers to achieve sustainable packaging roadmap and bring key packaging innovation to the business
• Providing strong leadership on assigned categories. Understand and communicate financial impacts. Strong communication skills. Manage vendor relationships and appraise vendor performance.
• Resolve quality and supply issues working closely with Food Safety, Operations, Bakery Tech and R&D.
• Meeting annual cost reduction targets in assigned categories. Identify and monitor cost savings initiatives that are contingent on key stakeholder’s participation. Coordinate activities and reporting to keep projects on task.
• Partnering with Global Procurement on implementing global strategies to achieve synergies and cost-reduction opportunities
• Developing and implementing negotiation strategies. Negotiating purchase agreements with vendors that meet the needs of the business from a commercial and risk management perspective
• Strategic and people leadership of packaging sourcing team; strong ability to coach others
• Develop and drive robust category management strategies resulting in tangible benefits to the bottom line and improved risk mitigation. Align closely with stakeholders. Build strategies by deeply understanding packaging categories, analyzing user needs, and identifying potential new supply sources.
• Analyze market trends and formulate coverage strategies based on changing market conditions. Provide input on key drivers, risk assessment, market conditions using both internal and external analysis. Present recommendations to senior leaders.
• Running transparent tenders, developing multiple diverse sourcing options and constructing clear business proposals. Strong ability to turn data into insights and actions.

Job Requirements

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

• A highly energetic individual, that can multi-task and prioritize projects based on immediate business need
• Must possess excellent analytical, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field.
• Proven leadership and change management experience
• Minimum of 5-10 years of procurement work experience, in a fast-paced organization
• Strong negotiation and contracting skills
• Knowledge and experience with Oracle
• Able to travel domestically and internationally up to 10-20%.
• High proficiency in MS Office suite (excel, powerpoint, word)
• Experience in project management dealing with tight timelines
• Team player capable of dealing with many internal and external stakeholders at various levels
