The opportunity

The purpose of the Senior Human Resources Business Partner is to guide and support the organization in employee relations by building and fostering relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders to build organisational capability, provide integrated HR services and solutions that respond to business needs in Canada.

Timmins, Ontario Canada


Information and Business Advice


  • Resolving queries from internal or external customers or suppliers by providing information on complex processes and the related policies.
  • Providing advice to employees and managers across the organisation, including but not limited to employee relations, performance management matters, leave management, awards, agreements, and conditions of employment.
  • Providing advice to employees and managers on the substance and application of HR-related policies and procedures.


Employee Relations


  • Coordinating employee exits and ensure necessary documentation has been completed.
  • Keeping abreast of any legislative, award or regulatory changes that impact IMDEX and actioning accordingly.
  • Conducting investigations into grievance, performance, and discipline matters with support of legal counsel.
  • Developing new & review existing HR policies & procedures to ensure accuracy, relevance, and ease of interpretation.
  • Identifying trends across the organisation on ER matters to develop & implement strategies to address the areas identified.


Internal Client Management


  • Fostering solution focused conversations and assisting leaders to make informed decisions about HR matters.
  • Acting as a trusted coach and mentor to both managers and IMDEX employees to provide best practice advice.
  • Partnering with internal stakeholders to understand how our strategy differentiates us in the market.
  • Managing relationships with internal clients and acting as a business partner, building high levels of professional credibility and mutual trust, and managing the deployment of appropriate internal and/or external resources to support in delivering business strategy and plans.


Strategy and Organizational Capability


  • Leading continuous improvement projects in the HR team and supporting other projects as a HR Lead with a focus on change management.
  • Reinforcing HR strategy in communications with stakeholders to further support buy-in of HR initiatives.
  • Actively implementing strategy as defined for specified region and building frameworks or localised procedures that ensure alignment with regional plans and local legislation requirements.
  • Actively supports HR services such as Talent Acquisition, Organisational Development, and Analytics by providing feedback and input to both local and global initiatives.
  • Developing regional HR strategy in consultation with the Head of People Operations, in line with the global HR strategy.


Leadership and People


  • Willingly passes on skills, shares job knowledge and trains others.
  • Raises difficult issues to ensure that they are addressed and leads team members to follow through on difficult actions or initiatives.
  • Sets and provides clear direction and expectations. Effectively delegates and removes obstacles to get work done.
  • Ensures staff are engaged and competent to perform their tasks and compliant with all Group policies, procedures and regional regulations.
  • Using established methods and processes to lead smaller change initiatives such as reviewing work processes for a defined group, assisting teams to resolve work issues and improve performance
  • Assigns appropriate support and resources to personnel to maximise success.
  • Sets stretch goals and opportunities to drive higher performance.
  • Shares and cascades the IMDEX vision, strategy and objectives to own team.


Work Experience / Skills required


  • Strong organizational skills and ability to shift priorities at any given time.
  • Demonstrable experience of planning and managing resources to deliver predetermined objectives as required
  • Previous experience and working knowledge of Canadian employment law.
  • Strong change management skills and ability to work cross functionally on a global level.
  • Previous experience managing workforce through an HRIS system. (SAP Success Factors preferred)
  • 7 + years demonstrable human resources work experience with an area of expertise at Advanced’ or ‘Expert’ level
  • Demonstrable experience of managing HR activities related to mergers and acquisitions.


Education/Experience


  • 7 + Years working in human resources in generalist, advisory and/or team lead roles
  • Experience working in Canadian employment law
  • University qualifications and/or experience in in Human Resources Management, or similar discipline (Other credentialing: Human Resources credential (i.e.: PHR, SPHR, SHR-CP, SHRM SCP)


Travel


Travel may be required as needed from time to time within Canada.
