Job Description
Trans Mountain operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 300,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta and British Columbia, and 111 kilometres of pipeline in Washington state.

As the Senior e-Learning Designer, you will have the opportunity to utilize your creativity to design targeted and engaging training materials for Trans Mountain (TMCI). This role reports to the Training Team Lead and is responsible for contributing to TMCI's Training Program for all formalized training across the Organization. In this role you will be accountable for providing design and technology expertise while utilizing sound instructional design methodologies to create and maintain a wide range of training materials and learning solutions. You will work collaboratively to provide technical expertise for strategies and configuration of the Learning Management System.


We are currently filling two senior level permanent positions, and the successful candidates can be based in our Calgary or Edmonton office.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Analyzes data trends for opportunities for improvement
  • Support the document control and change management elements of the Training Program utilizing SharePoint sites, while ensuring compliance with applicable TMCI standards and procedures
  • In collaboration with a broad group of programs (or Department/Group/3rd Party) stakeholders, designs, develops, and updates a wide range of training materials and learning solutions, and provides training support and direction
  • Collaborating with the IT Department and the vendor, specifies, configures, implements administers, maintains, and improves the TMCI Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Collaboratively provides reporting to all levels of Management, including annual CER reporting for Programs
  • Represents the Training Program and supports other Programs (in the context of training) during regulatory audits, internal audits, and internal effectiveness reviews
  • Ensures compliance with applicable regulations and TMCI policies, standards, and procedures in developing and delivering training materials


Qualifications and Professional Experience:


  • Undergraduate degree or certification, preferably in adult and/or continuing learning with an emphasis on e-Learning design is preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of Learning Management Systems including backend system functionality, computer-based training platforms, and course development packages commonly used in industry (e.g. Totara LMS, Moodle, Articulate 360, Captivate, etc.)
  • Excellent oral, written communication, and presentation skill
  • Proven relationship management, consulting, and teamwork expertise across all levels of the organization
  • 8 + years of relevant experience in e-Learning design is required with strong knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design models
  • Robust analytical and interpretive skills to recognize and comprehend complex issues, policies, regulatory and legislative requirements, and information affecting the client’s environment
