Our expectations

The Senior Analyst, Accounting Standards acts as an expert in his field and supports team members and the company in terms of accounting standards. First, you will play a leading role in the conversion from US GAAP to IFRS standards by studying and presenting to management the various choices available to the company within the framework of this change in accounting practice. Secondly, you will participate in the development and ongoing maintenance of accounting policies and coordinate the implementation of new policies related to the evolution of IFRS throughout the organization.

Your role

• Evaluate and lead changes in standards within the finance team
• Participate in the development of the strategy to convert from US GAAP to IFRS; analyze and recommend the best options to be made to make the transition
• Act as an advisor to various stakeholders such as the Finance team in the application of accounting standards
• Prepare accounting memos with supporting documentation and IFRS research
• Ensure that internal controls regarding standards are appropriate and fully complied with;
• Participate in the preparation of consolidated financial statements on a quarterly and annual basis
• Support the divisions and monitor information and data from leases for compliance with IFRS-16 (Leases)
• Analyze various accounting items such as pension funds, rate conversion, insurance, etc.
• Participate in the development and maintenance of accounting policies and coordinate the implementation of new policies related to the IFRS evolution throughout the organization
• Analyze new contracts or significant contract modifications to ensure compliance with IFRS
• Support the corporate team for various special projects and optimizations.

The Qualifications We Are Looking For

• We require all our head office associates to be proficient in French, spoken and written.
• Experience with accounting software, Oracle / EBS, TM1 an asset
• Experience in the retail industry is an asset
• Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in a similar position
• Experience in large accounting firm
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills
• CPA designation
• Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, advanced level
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment and respond to organizational and operational needs in an ad hoc manner
• Knowledge of IFRS and ability to research IFRS
• Bachelor’s degree business administration, accounting or finance
• Ability to develop a broad organizational view and understanding of the business
